Paige Seckar
It was almost impossible not to hear how much every college coach loved Seckar’s game during the last live period in Minnesota and Des Moines, and it’s easy to understand why. The Oshkosh West wing is a legit 6-footer and can do a little bit of everything. She scores efficiently, has counters to any defense, rebounds, defends, and sneakily led the talented FVA in blocks per game as a sophomore. Some small schools have already concluded that she’s an easy scholarship kid. People who know more than I have told me if she continues this level of play, she’ll blow up next summer.
Lucy Leininger Lucy Leininger 5'11" | PF Germantown | 2024 State WI
Since I first saw Leininger around thanksgiving last year, she’s continued to improve. She doesn’t even look like the kid who led the Greater Metro Conference in blocks last season. She’s blocked more shots this summer and fouled considerably less. I love forwards with defensive versatility, and Leininger has all the versatility defensively that a high school coach could ask for from a kid.
Annyka Hellendrung Annyka Hellendrung 5'8" | SG Waukesha West | 2023 State WI
The Waukesha West guard is one of the strongest kids I’ve come across in the past year. Her jumper looks like she’s just flipping a ball toward the rim. Her strength makes shooting like picking up a piece of paper. It looks effortless. You’d think a kid with that much strength couldn’t move her feet like smaller, lankier guards, but you’d be wrong. She could be one of the best defensive guards in the Classic Eight this season. She moves her feet, and nobody has the strength to get her off her spot.
Trinity Mocadlo Trinity Mocadlo 5'8" | PG Hortonville | 2023 State WI
After coming off the bench behind two of the best guards in the state last season, it’s Mocadlo’s turn to take the reigns of the Hortonville offense. Two things I know Mocadlo will do next season are play hard and make good decisions with the ball. When Mocadlo steps on the floor, the tempo and momentum change. She flies up and down the floor, and most kids can’t keep up with her doing that for the entirety of the time she’s on the floor. The Polar Bears will win some games this year because opposing guards can’t handle what Mocadlo brings.
