While it would’ve been impossible to watch all 1400 teams, I did catch quite a few teams and players throughout the tournament’s 4 day span. When I looked at my notes at the conclusion of the tournament, there were a little over 100 players that had caught my eye in some way. This series is going to discuss some of those standouts and it’ll be broken down by the division they played in (2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026) rather than the player’s class. This article features some of the standouts from the 2024 divisions.
Mathurin really impressed me before I learned she was a 2025 playing up, but when I saw that, I was absolutely shocked. She looked so comfortable and really showcased an elite skillset. Mathurin was doing a little bit of everything – scoring from everywhere on the court, seeing the floor and delivering passes to the perfect spots, rebounding, handling pressure, etc. – and she was doing it all at a high level. She has so many moves in her arsenal and her basketball IQ is extremely high. Mathurin has a very bright future ahead of her.
Hurd’s strength is nearly impossible for opposing teams to stop. She’s long and athletic, plus she plays smart. She recognizes mismatches, double teams, and the location of the defense extremely well. Hurd grabs rebounds so strong and she consistently crashes the boards. Her post moves are so impressive and very tough to defend. She finished really well on both sides of the rim and through contact.

You don’t often see a player from the class of 2027 playing in a 2024 division, but what is even more rare is seeing a 2027, an incoming 8th grader, absolutely dominate while playing up 3 divisions. The way Hassel can finish around the rim is special. She can finish really tough shots on both sides of the rim. Hassel also rebounds and defends at a high level. And despite how impressive she was inside, she also showed her handles and ability to run the floor.
Bradley’s basketball IQ is off the charts. She just always looks so poised and in control, ready to play her game. She can handle the ball well, even when she’s being heavily pressured. She makes excellent passes. She is so good in transition. She defends. And she can score at all 3 levels. Bradley has a quick release and deep range on her shot. She creates really well also. Bradley continues to show that she is a big time player.
Highlights
Andrea Guilford
Andrea Guilford
Guilford is another player who looked like she was in her element out there despite being a class of 2026 playing up 2 divisions. She really showed her shooting abilities and proved that she can pull up and knock down shots from inside the perimeter all the way out. Guilford also had really good court vision and was making impressive passes beyond what you typically see from an incoming high school freshman. Beyond shooting, she showed that she is a complete scorer and put up big numbers against every opponent she faced.
