The hot 2025 class had quite a few players that popped during the spring and early summer earning a spot in the top 100. Here are some of the players that made enough impact to make the leap into the rankings.
Zaila Avant’garde Zaila Avant’garde 5'9" | SF Home School | 2025 State MD 5’9 | SF | Home School
Zaila is new to the scene as a Louisiana transplant. Currently, she is being home schooled which would make her able to play with only a couple of teams during the high school season. She is a super athlete with skill and three point range. She is active on defense and drops in at the #14 spot in the rankings. Outside of basketball she is a Guinness world record holder in juggling and a silver medalist, a national spelling bee champion and an accomplished unicyclist.
Amaya Durrett Amaya Durrett 5'6" | CG Parkdale | 2025 State MD AMAYADURRETT5’6″ | CGParkdale | 2025#25STATEMD 5’6″ | CG | Parkdale
Amaya drops in at number 25. Listed sometimes as “Maya”, she was on are radar as a middle schooler with her blazing speed. Despite producing terrific numbers at Parkdale and with the ESF Lady Threat she has been riding under the radar. She has a good handle and is explosive in transition, getting on the court against some other elite players will boost her national stock.
Chyanne Harris Chyanne Harris 5'5" | SG Bishop McNamara | 2025 State MD CHYANNEHARRIS5’5″ | SGBishop McNamara | 2025#39STATEMD 5’5″ | SG | Bishop McNamara
Chyanne has one of the purist shots in the game. She has a very quick release and is always a threat anytime she touches the ball regardless of where she is on the floor. She has skill to do a lot of things on the floor and I’d like to see her transition to the point eventually. As of now the number 39 ranked player is the sniper dropping corner three’s when the defense falls asleep.
Shayla Garnett Shayla Garnett 5'3" | PG Mt. Carmel | 2025 State MD 5’3″ | PG | Mt. Carmel
Shayla has a good pull up off the dribble and finishes well at the basket. Even with a low release she gets off her shot against taller defenders due to the odd angles that she takes. She is a strong physical guard with a low profile that she uses as an advantage. Shayla comes in ranked #46 in the class.
Theresa Hagans Theresa Hagans 5'9" | PG Bishop Ireton | 2025 State VA 5’7″ | PG | Bishop McNamara
Theresa has great handles and is pretty nice at the point guard spot. In transition she starts to separate herself as she effortlessly changes directions on the move at any speed. She executes high level moves like it’s nothing and does it without over dribbling or hogging the ball. Theresa entered the rankings in the top ten at #9.
Taylor Smith Taylor Smith 5'6" | SG Catoctin | 2025 State MD TAYLORSMITH5’6″ | SGCatoctin | 2025#32STATEMD 5’6″ | SG | Catoctin
Taylor showed some amazing work in the playoff run for Catoctin. She can score in a variety of ways, from the mid range, floaters, at the basket and from the three. She shoots contested shots at a high rate and coaches that realize that will give her the freedom to jack it up. She creates contact on her drives getting to the line often where she makes her free throws. The #32 ranked player is a three sport phenom also excelling in softball and soccer.
