I’m glad I did because I caught a competitive game with two talented teams, the Western PA Bruins and the Chesco Storm. I’ve featured some of the Bruins players so now I want to highlight some of the Storm players who come from right outside of the Philly area.
Serenity Burgess
Serenity Burgess
Serenity is a super crafty combo guard that played some of the best defense I saw all summer. She is cat quick with long arms and speed and she gets into the paint at will. where she makes good decisions with the ball. She attacked the glass on both ends and showed some nice passing ability.
Jordyn Palmer
Jordyn Palmer
Jordyn Palmer. Remember that name. I was shocked to find out she was a 2027 kid after watching her dominate high school players with ease. With legit size at 6 feet and solidly built, she has an advanced skill set and physical maturity that allowed her to set the tone. She finished in the paint with solid footwork and a few different moves and counters. She showed off a nice midrange shot and made her free throws at a high rate. Defensively she played solid post defense and showed that she could move well enough to thwart some pick and roll action on the perimeter. Major potential here.
Whitney Evans
Whitney Evans
Whitney just kept pulling things out of her bag as the game went along. A sturdy and quick point guard, she started the game draining some long threes with a quick release. After she had defenders closing out she started driving to the hoop and finishing like a grown woman. Later in the game she helped the team close out the victory by controlling the possessions like a true floor general, making sure there were no turnovers as the opponents scrapped and trapped all over the floor. Very impressive performance as she seemed to rise to the occasion when needed.
Dejah Morris
Dejah Morris
Dejah is one cool and clutch player when it counts. The six- foot wing played some great defense throughout the game, using her athleticism and length to disrupt all over the court. Late in the game she showed off her range by nailing two long three pointers and sinking some clutch free throws to help her squad secure the win. She has a good touch around the basket and can put the ball on the floor. She will definitely be a contributor at the next level.
Amani Savage
Amani Savage
Amani did not play a ton of minutes in the game I saw but I was impressed by her size and her ability to hold down the back line of the defense. She boxed out and deterred a couple of attacks at the basket by anticipating and getting into position without fouling. Would like to see her again during the high school season.
