Katherine Miller Katherine Miller 5'9" | PG Elkhart Lake - Glenbeulah | 2023 State WI
The 5-foot-8 rising senior led the Big East-North and South with over 16 points per game. Miller also could get into a rhythm and shoot a team out of a zone in a few possessions. It wasn’t uncommon for the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah guard to knock down four or more 3-pointers in a game. She chipped in to help her team in every aspect. She grabbed over six rebounds, earned over two assists, three steals, and about a block and a half.
The St. Mary Catholic’s smooth left-handed wing is one of the most natural combo guards in the state. She could spot up behind the 3-point line and attack the basket. However, I like what she can do defensively at this level. She moves her feet well and does an excellent job staying in front of her assignment. She’ll likely garner more small school interest as the season progresses, but don’t be surprised if the Zephyrs make a run in the playoffs.
Kailey Tulachka
The 5-foot-10 post may not be the ideal size for a forward, but she is effective with her back to the basket. She has the strength, balance, and skill that help her carve out space and score in almost any one-on-one matchup in the conference against straight-up defense or zone. However, she does more than just score in the post. She sees the floor well and passes out of the block well. Tulachka garnered interest from small schools this summer, and I expect that interest will only grow over the season.
Mallory Novy
The Reedsville wing is a dynamic athlete. Novy was also the only player in the Big East-North or South to average a double-double with 15.9 points and 12.3 rebounds in her sophomore season. It shows how even the middle of this conference is when Reedsville won seven games and only finished four games behind third but ended up second from the bottom of the standings. Novy’s impact on the game should only grow this season, so it will be interesting if that translates to more wins this season for Reedsville. However, seeing her play within the Big East-North conference should be fun.
