There were also a ton of returning players this year who were contributors on their teams last year. I already listed a couple 4A girls to watch for the season, so we will take a look into the 3A class.
DeAndrea Woods
DeAndrea Woods
DeAndrea played great all of last year as just a sophomore. While making the state tournament, Lincoln fell to Mead HS and Lakeside HS. Woods is extremely effective from the high post. She has the ability to hit the mid-range shot or back her opponent down and use her post moves to get the bucket for an easy shot. She finishes through traffic outstanding, being able to go through contact. Her defense is very good, being able to protect the paint by blocking shots with ease. I’m excited to watch how her game has grown over the summer going into her junior year.
Tatum Brager
Tatum Brager
Tatum had a great year last season, being named 2nd team all WESCO. Stanwood finished 6th in the state tournament after suffering a loss to Mead HS but getting against Auburn and Hermiston. Tatum is a phenomenal shooter from all over the court. She can hit the deep shot whether it’s contested or uncontested. She moves without the ball as good as anyone in the state, leading to many easy buckets catching her defenders not looking.
Jenna and Arlington HS are looking to build off their 3rd place finish in the state tournament last year. After a loss to Garfield HS in the state semi-finals, they were able to bounce back to beat top ranked Mead HS in the 3rd place game. Villa scores at all 3 levels with ease. Her shot is one of the best in the entire state and her release is ridiculously quick so defenders aren’t able to get out quickly enough. The Washington State commit uses her body extremely well when attacking the rim, being able to finish tough buckets with ease.
Highlights
Naima and Garfeild HS are coming off a state championship win last season after beating a tough Lake Washington team by 1 point in the title game. Naima, in my eyes, is one of the top 2024 players in the class. Standing at 6’5″, there aren’t many players within the state who can match up against her. She uses her body well down low, being able to grab rebounds with ease. She finishes through contact quite a bit, given that most girls aren’t her height and foul her a lot. She’s is going to have a big junior season as her and her teammates go for back to back state title wins.
