April Hooks April Hooks 5’8″ | CG Hewitt-Trussville | 2023 State AL made move up from number 59 to number 17 and had a great summer to go along with this move. Her level of maturity on the court was shown; understanding her position in her team’s offense and defense. April is a very fundamental player and her skill set is one to be admired. Expect Hewitt-Trussville to be in the mix for the 7A state title.
If you are looking for a shooter, then Laci is the player you need to see play. I’ve seen her shoot from deep to a floater, and is very precise with all of them. She moves well without the ball to get herself open and be shot ready when she catches the ball. She is the impact player for Pelham this year as they set their goal on making it to the Final Four in 2023.
I saw JoVala playing in the AHSAA 2022 North-South game held in July this summer. She put that team on my back and made things happen. JoVala is a playmaker that uses her speed to drive past her defender while playing with that high motor in attacking the rim. She was also a menace on defense, pushing up against her opponents and diving for all the loose balls.
Kennedy has been mentioned in many PGH Circuit articles and she was one the guards that led her travel team; Alabama Twisters Elite to a top ten finish in the Triumph Region of the circuit this year. Kennedy has the ability to score from anywhere on the court, has very good ball handling skill and can create easy-scoring opportunities for her teammates. Kennedy has transferred to Hoover HS, and will definitely fit in with their high powered offense and smothering defense in their quest for another state title.
One of the top players in the Mobile region, and definitely the leader of a young LeFlore team under the leadership of new head coach Shanice McKinney-Sims; Kennedy is a quick guard with the ability to score on most defenders, don’t let her size deceive you. She makes tremendous hustle plays and works hard on both ends of the floor. Kennedy is that energizer on the court. Looking forward to seeing what her senior year will bring to LeFlore and the Mobile region.
