Monday, we updated our list for the Class of 2025. It expanded from 100 prospects to 125 prospects, so we added a number of new prospects headed into the high school season. At this time, I wanted to highlight a few young ladies for their play. All are listed as small forwards, power forwards, or centers within the Indiana Class of 2025 Top-125 Rankings.
Icesis is a combo forward, so she can play inside or out. One thing’s for sure, though, and that’s the fact not many girls in this class are going to (1) play harder, or (2) play tougher/more physical than her. She is very strong, athletic, and extremely active. She has a real bulldog mentality, is always on attack, and is highly productive. She has a nose for the ball, can rebound anything, but she’ll also push it up the floor and attack the basket with aggression. Additionally, she is a versatile and effortful defender. She has some similarities to Destini Craig.
Speaking of effortful, people can critique Ayla’s “measurables” all they want, but she flat out outplays her size, she has a nonstop motor, and she is incredibly tough and physical. She is one of the most productive kids each time she steps on the floor, and she continues to build her skillset. She, too, is more of a combo forward, because she can defend multiple positions, plus she is doing a better job of handling the ball and stepping outside to knock down jumpers. I really like her potential to flex between the ‘3’ and the ‘4’ at the next level.
When I saw Amari in the Spring, she really stood out from an athletic standpoint because she had some bounce, she changed directions almost effortlessly, and she displayed a lot of fast-twitch movements a lot of other girls just aren’t capable of. She has really nice length, a wiry-strong frame, and she plays with a very good motor. She can play in the mid-post as more of a ‘4’, she will rebound, and she likes to attack the basket from there. But she can also handle it in transition, and she can defend bigger guards, wings, and most power forwards.
Last Winter, Olivia had the opportunity to start and play big minutes for a very good (and veteran) Washington team. I don’t know that she’ll be THE focal point this season, but she is going to be a key piece over the next three years. She has a solid to strong frame, broad shoulders, and nice length at her size. She plays with an outstanding motor, she will absolutely battle inside, rebound, and defend the post. But she also moves fairly well, she can play a little around the perimeter, and she’s very good at about 15-feet. She should have a nice year.
Highlights
Casey was originally a Carmel kid, but she transferred to Heritage Christian just before Christmas Break, and she was able to step in and contribute immediately. She has a fairly strong frame for her age, she has nice length, and she’s a solid athlete in most directions. I like her motor, and her willingness to be physical and play bigger than she is. She keeps a lot of possessions alive and figures out ways to produce each game. Casey also has nice touch to the 3-point line, and she can defend bigger wings, forwards, and undersized posts.
