Lauren is a strong built Forward, with good length. She is tough on both sides of the ball. She can post up, and has a powerful drop step move. She has good hands, and catches the ball high. She is also athletic, and can run the floor. On defense, she is always in correct position rotating away from the ball, and has active hands in the passing lane.
Megan McNamara
Megan McNamara
Megan is a gritty Forward, who can impact the game in multiple ways. She had a bunch of tough finishes at the showcase, including a sky hook from the corner over multiple defenders. Megan can handle the ball, go at the defense off the dribble, and run the floor. She has a good mix of Guard and Forward skills. She has a high basketball IQ, and was a good decision maker at the event when reading the screens and the defense. Expect to see an instant impact at Dedham for Megan. I liked what I saw in my first time seeing her play.
Two things stood out when I first saw Skyler play at the showcase. Her size for the Guard position is really good. This creates a bunch of mismatches. The second thing that stood out was her shooting. I saw her make multiple threes, whether it be off the dribble, set, or on the move off a screen or cut. She is a pure shooter with a smooth shot. Skyler is a player who can’t be left open. She plays with very high energy and can create her own shot. She did not force anything up, and played well with in the flow of the offense. She is also a versatile defender, that can defend Guards, and Forwards. Skyler looked like a varsity ready player.
Gonzalez has all the intangibles that are hard to teach. Toughness, determination, work ethic, a high basketball IQ, speed and she is a great teammate. Even though it was the first time her team played together, she was still communicating and supporting her teammates like they had been playing for months together. Gonzalez is certainly not the biggest player on the floor, but she just outworks her opponents. She uses her quick first step to beat defenders. Amazingly at her size she still manages to get in the lane. She is very good at penetrating and creating separation from the defense. Gonzales is a crafty and skilled Guard, that will only get better.
Highlights
Oram is a very tough Guard. Multiple scouts I talk to said she is one of the best Guards at rebounding they saw at the showcase. She got rebounds boxing out players bigger in size. She is a strong finisher at the rim, and can finish with contact. She can attack off the dribble, and has a good touch off the glass. She can finish off one or 2 feet. She is also a very solid three point shooter. On defense she plays intense. She has good anticipation, and even got a block down low. Oram plays bigger than her listed size.
