I got the opportunity to watch some of the high school and middle school division games. The league features some talented players from Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. Here are some players that showed good potential.
Aubrey Butler | Guard | Arkansas | 2024
Aubrey really impressed me with her play. Her IQ on defense led to deflections and steals when playing the passing lanes. This allowed her to get out in transition and make some really good plays for herself or a teammate with her decision making ability. In the half-court she was just as tough. She has the skill to get to the rim and make shots from the perimeter.
Kalina Lambert | Point Guard | Tennessee | 2027
Despite being one of the youngest players in the high school division, Kalina was impressive with her play. Her skill level and confidence allowed her to hold her own. She didn’t backdown from anyone and really competed by being aggressive on both ends of the floor. She’s a quality point guard that showed she can score on all three levels.
Zoey Rixter Zoey Rixter 6'1" | SG Bartlett | 2025 State TN | Wing | Tennessee | 2025
There’s nothing like a player with size and length that has the versatility to play inside and out and can defend multiple positions. Her athleticism allows her to pick up the point guard, lock down the wing player, or defend the post player. Her help defense was on point as she got to her help spots early to block or alter the opponent’s shot. She also possesses a good handle with body control that allowed her to attack the basket.
Aaliyah Converse Aaliyah Converse 5'8" | SG St. George’s Independent | 2024 State TN | Guard | Tennessee | 2024
Every coach loves a player that will get after you on defense. The effort, energy, multiple efforts, and the IQ to not make silly mistakes are some keys to being a really good defender. Aaliyah showed that ability while guarding the ball and when playing the passing lanes. But Aaliyah wasn’t just a defensive player. She also showed her skills on the offensive side of the ball. She has the ability to get by her defender off the bounce and finish at the rim in transition or in the half-court. Aaliyah also displayed good footwork around the rim on offense.
Summer Morgan | Guard | Arkansas | 2027
Summer competed in the middle school division, but she probably showed the most potential of the day. One of the best athletes I saw, she has some untapped potential that if it gets developed could be a problem for anyone she runs up against. When she got in the open court her athleticism was on full display. Her speed and quickness was difficult to contain. As she continues to improve her handle, shooting, and passing she will definitely be a player to remember.
Aniya Tony | Forward | Arkansas | 2027
Aniya is a player that is not going to go out there and try to do too much. She played within herself and took what the defense gave her. She understands her role, her abilities, and where she is as a player. Aniya does the things that sometimes goes unnoticed. She ran the floor hard, rebounded, and gave good effort on defense.
Kinsley Patterson | Guard | Arkansas | 2027
When you line-up to play against Kinsley you better bring your hard hat. She is a tough, hard-nosed physical player that is going to give maximum effort. Kinsley takes pride in playing defense. Her quick feet and physical nature is a deadly combination for this aggressive on-ball defender. She’ll also snatch the defensive rebound and push the ball in transition. She uses her size and strength to bully her way to the basket for the finish or to draw the foul.
