The event was held from Sept 24-25. I was able to attend the event on Sunday, Sept. 25, and here’s a look at some of the top talent I saw.

– Corona Centennial 2024
Hawkins stood out as a solid point guard. She’s a good ball-handler, patient and calm and doesn’t force anything. Can get past her defender off the dribble and can finish at the basket. Pass first point guard. Defensively she fights through screens and stays in front of the ball-handler.

Tse has the tools to be a solid combo guard. She handles the ball and runs the offense and can find the open teammate in the halfcourt. Comfortable getting her own shot too. Can create separation off the dribble and has a little turnaround jumper. Able to attack the basket consistently. Better shooter from three when it’s off the catch.
3 Hayley Freeman – Lynwood 2024
Freeman is a traditional post. She can establish herself in the paint and hold her position. Good footwork and she finishes with either hand with a soft touch around the basket. Uses the glass to finish. Moves without the ball making cuts to the rim. She uses her strength well to get rebounding position and box out.
4 Karen Casillas – Burbank 2023
Casillas is a combo between a big and a wing. She can handle the ball and play on the perimeter and mix it up in the paint. Does a good job moving off ball and flashing across the lane. Strong offensive rebounder and goes up hard with putbacks. Boxes out on defensive glass and rebounds with two hands. Defensively, she denies the entry pass and is able to poke the ball away with quick hands.
