The event is the who’s who of girls basketball in the state of Louisiana with girls representing from the class of 2023 all the way up to the class of 2030. This one day event was and is filled with talent every year. Here we will highlight a few of the kids who raised their stock on Saturday in the 2023 class!
Sophia Geisler

Sophia had a solid day Saturday simply distributing the rock and not turning it over! You would’ve thought that the team she played with was a team that she’d been playing with for years the way she found her teammates in scoring spots and got them easy buckets. While taking care of the ball, she also made a couple of open shots on the day. While not on many schools recruiting radar, I’m sure after Saturday and with a solid Sr season that’s soon to change.
Sage Singleton

Shooters will shoot and that’s what Sage did on Saturday. With an improved handle to go along with a spot up jumper, Sage helped her stock in the eyes of a few JUCO’S who where on hand at the Fab 50. A key piece in Ellender’s state tittle run last year. Look for Sage to build on solid Jr season heading into her final year.
The question is, “What can’t she do in the post?” Yannie, as she’s called totally dominated post play on Saturday at the Fab 50! Excellent at sealing and getting position early. She constantly did that at camp and finished over either shoulder. While doing so, she picked up an offer from Tyler Junior College. Going into her Sr season, look for Yannie to be a walking double-double and don’t be surprised if a few D1’s come in late with offers!
Jamia was definitely the “crowd pleaser” of the Fab 50. Miss Singleton had many ” ouuu and awwww ” moments on Saturday putting her ball handling skills on full display. Jamia got in the lane whenever she wanted to. She made several spectacular passes while also finishing over big defenders. This state champion will get a shot at the next level somewhere and Saturday she most certainly helped herself get her name on the radar!
When you do little things, people tends to notice and on Saturday, that’s exactly what Allena proved. She may not have scored it a ton, but she grabbed just about every rebound, made multiple hustle plays, and showed she can be a good screen setter/pick and role forward. Things that she showed translated well to the next level. Hopefully her play carries over in her final season at Southwood High.
