The Class of 2023 as a whole has been quick to either narrow down their lists of colleges, or even choose their Fall of 2023 destinations. A lot of this can be attributed to a group of prospects and parents who has seen the aftermath of COVID-19, the additional fifth year for college players, and the effects the transfer portal has caused throughout all of college basketball, not just the NCAA Division-1 level. As I come to an end to a number of articles I’ve written about 2023 lately, I wanted to point out a final group of uncommitted prospects in the 2023 class. If you see someone below you believe has already made their college decision, please let us know so we can continue to update these reports. The following ladies are listed as centers in our current 2023 rankings, each fall between #101 and #225, and each is uncommitted to the best of our knowledge.
Kendall is from the small town of Cannelton, and she hasn’t been a big part of the grassroots circuit over the past couple of years. However, she is a strong, fairly physical and hard-working, skillful post who can hold her own against most posts around the state. Kendall has already scored 1039 career points, grabbed 587 rebounds, and blocked 346 shots in her career, including averages of 19.8p, 8.7r, and 5.9b per game in 2021-2022. She can impose her will around the block, but she does have a little touch as well.
Jordyn put together a nice July in front of college coaches, and she could be a real x-factor off the bench for the Lady Eagles this season. She has an athletically strong frame, nice length, and she moves well in most directions, including being somewhat bouncy. She plays with a nice motor, battles for rebounds, whether boxing out or chasing them down, and she has really started to develop a more consistent and complete offensive skill package. Her athleticism also allows her to be a versatile defender.
It has been enjoyable to see Victoria’s growth over the last three years. She has tremendous length, she runs the floor well/hard, and she has a lot of bounce to her. She always plays hard and tries to play physical, but while she could definitely continue gaining strength, she does look much stronger than she did as a youngster. She has been more of an interior scorer throughout her career, but last Winter she started to work the mid-post and short corners a lot more effectively. I also like her ability to block shots from “help-side”.
Kendal is a big, strong, somewhat intimidating post presence who likes to play with a lot of contact and physicality. She plays with a really nice motor for a post, she establishes herself early each possession, whether on offense or defense, and she has soft hands and keeps the ball high when she gets it. She has assembled a consistent grouping of solid post-moves, and she is able to score the ball over/around longer, more athletic defenders. When she’s on defense, she clogs the lane well and blocks her share of shots.
Ryleigh is another stronger post prospect, but she is a bit more versatile and incredibly hard-working. She’s a solid athlete with good strength, she’s willing to be physical and seek contact, but she also has some skill/touch to where she can play comfortably in the mid-post for the duration of a game and still be effective. She’ll box out or chase down rebounds, and while she’s more of an interior defender, she’ll give effort around the perimeter, defend ball-screens well, and communicate throughout a game.
