The combo forward stretches the floor for the Sibley-Ocheyedan Generals, attacking weaker defenders and getting to the line at will. Brouwer averaged 6.1 free throw attempts per game as a junior, reflecting how physical she is. The 1000 point varsity scorer will guide the Generals this winter along with returning their other 4 varsity starters from a year ago, in attempts to have a successful season once again. If they can pick up from where they left off last year, they will be in good shape.
Riley Batta Riley Batta 5’10” | PF South Central Calhoun | 2023 State IA is a lengthy, athletic forward that beats her opponent with some great first-step quickness. She averaged 16.9 PPG on 53.8% shooting, 8.3 RPG, and 2.5 APG, while leading her team to a 19-6 overall record, 7-4 in conference last winter. Not to mention something that we don’t see very often is the numbers that Batta put up on the offensive glass, averaging 3.7 ORPG for the South Central Calhoun Titans as a junior, ranking her top in the state in that category. She is an all around player with athleticism, if she continues to grow she will be hard to stop and will see a lot of interest coming from all college levels.
Grace Hennessy Grace Hennessy 5’10” | PF Denver | 2023 State IA had an efficient season last winter for the Denver Cyclones, scoring 15 PPG on 45.1%, grabbing 7.9 RPG, passing out 3.3 APG, and making 31.4% of her three pointers. Almost putting up a double double was something that Grace did not have in mind at the start of last season but came a reality as the year went on as a result of all the work she had put in during the offseason in attempts to expand her game and dominate her competition. With the team Hennessy has around her returning, she will aim to repay the state tournament a visit after losing last year in the state semi-finals and finishing 24-3 overall, 6-2 in conference.
Morgan Neuroth Morgan Neuroth 5’6″ | PG East Marshall | 2024 State IA was one of the highest scorers for the sophomore class in 2A last season for the East Marshall Mustangs, being a quick PG who can spot up and shoot, she averaged 16 PPG on 35.9% shooting, 5 RPG, and 1.6 APG. Ranking #12 by position in the state, the electric guard keeps working to compete day in and out on the floor. Neuroth shot 35.9% from behind the three point line as a sophomore and looks to grow this season for the Mustangs so that they can see some success as a team. After finishing with a below .500 record last season, the goal for East Marshall will be to come together and strive to put a great season together with the young group they have.
Mallory Leerar Mallory Leerar 5’9″ | SF West Hancock | 2024 State IA had a good showing this summer for All Iowa Attack, posing problems as a lengthy shooter when she is on the floor. Averaging 14 PPG on 41.7% shooting and 3.1 APG, Leerar likes to play inside to out on the offensive end, usually looking to shoot deep until the defense starts to jump and then she will attack the hoop for an easy lay up. Mallory shot 32.5% from three and recorded 95 steals in the 21′-22′ season to make her team 18-6 overall, 12-4 in conference. To expand her game she will have to learn her physicality and size advantage more often when she has the opportunity, this will create a bigger dilemma for defenses on how to guard her in their game plan as time goes on. It will be fun to see what she can do with this West Hancock Eagles team this 22′-23′ season and into the playoffs.
