Prep Girls Hoops Predictions:
Military Magnet – The Lady Eagles will try for a 3-peat this season. Military Magnet is (40-1) in the past 5 seasons in region play.
Cross HS – How far can Lauren Middleton Lauren Middleton 5'6" | CG Cross | 2025 State SC carry this team?
St John’s HS – The Lady Islanders finished (6-14) last season.
Palmetto Scholars – The Lady Phoenix will rely on a few juniors in Lacy Gerald Lacy Gerald 5'5" | PG West Ashley | 2024 State SC and SaBria Washington SaBria Washington 5'4" | SG Palmetto Scholars | 2024 State SC to lead the way. PSA finished (7-14) last year.
Charleston Math & Science – The Riptide finished (6-14) last year under Head Coach Ryan Smith
Baptist Hill – The Bobcats from Hollywood finished (3-16) last season. Very young roster.
Low Country Leadership
Davis is back along with several others from last year’s State Championship Team. Can the Lady Eagles secure a 3-peat this coming season? Davis averaged 7.9 ppg, 5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 4.2 steals last season for the Eagles (27-4).
Kaelin really does a good job of directing traffic and dropping floaters along the way to the cup. She understands on how to play on the ball and provides a winning attitude at all times.
Kaelin Davis Kaelin Davis 5’4″ | PG Military Magnet | 2023 State SC is the Prep Girls Preseason Region Player of the Year for 2022-2023.
Bradley and Davis have worked together so well for the Lady Eagles over the years to provide plenty of success. Chazmin averaged 9.3 ppg last season on this very well-balanced team for Head Coach Nathaniel Taylor. Chazmin is a left-handed off guard who really likes to use the head fake at times on the way to the rack.
She’s very crafty with the ball in her hands and really likes to leak out at times for cheapies going the other way.
Highlights
Rykia likes to set up shop out on the perimeter and knockdown shots. She averaged 9.5 ppg last season for the Lady Eagles. Jakes does a tremendous job of causing chaos at times as a on the ball defender. She plays really well away from the ball and constantly has her MOTOR on at all times.
Robinson is a bit of an unknown down on John’s Island with the Lady Islanders. Josalyn averaged 8.2 ppg and 13 rebounds last season. She does a good job of keeping the ball up high after claiming it off the glass.
Gerald recently played in the Prep Girls Hoops South Carolina Top 250 Expo in Myrtle Beach. Lacy ran on the Grassroots Circuit this summer with Coastal Select.
Gerald does a good job of seeing the floor and making the right reads. Lacy is a pass first point guard who directs traffic in the half-court very well. Gerald averaged 11.9 ppg last season for the Lady Phoenix.
Mitchell really stepped-up last season as a freshman and led the Lady Eagles in scoring at 11.1 ppg. Sabri contributed 6.3 rebounds and 3.6 steals a game. Mitchell covers a lot of ground on the floor with her length and the ability to slash to the cup. She fills the lane nicely in transition and finishes at the basket on a regular basis.
Watson and Mitchell both just Sophomores have the Lady Eagles in contention for many years to come. Dream can really shake and bake to the rack with ball in her hands. Dream has a set of quick hands to cause disruption in the passing lanes. Watson averaged 10.6 ppg, 5.3 rebounds and 5.2 steals last season.
Middleton will be relied on to lead the Lady Trojans (15-6) this coming season. Former teammate Nadia President Nadia President 5’4″ | PG Ashley Ridge | 2025 State SC moved over to Ashley Ridge HS. Lauren will look to team up with Tranice Smalls Tranice Smalls 5’7″ | SF Cross | 2023 State SC on the roster this season to help secure some wins for the Lady Trojans.
Middleton will have to be at her best every night for her and her teammates to be in contention this season in Region 8-A.
