Jakes and the Lady Eagles will try and win a 3rd straight Class 1A State Championship come this March. Rykia has been very instrumental in this program’s success over the years. The Lady Eagles were runners-up back in 2020 and have played in the past 3 straight state championship games. Jakes always seems to be shot ready to receive the ball and brings a swarming mind on the defensive end of the floor.

Physicality was the middle name of the defending 1A champion Eagles’ contest with South Pointe. Jakes scored the first points for the Eagles via a 3-pointer and eventually went into the half having tallied 11 points. She connected on at least one floater and expressed confidence by calling for the ball when she felt she could make a play. The 3-pointer was working for the veteran as she was true on a pair of triple attempts in the first half. Jakes concluded the matchup with the Stallions having scored 12 points in what was unquestionably one of the more competitive and entertaining games on Friday’s slate.

Rykia likes to set up shop out on the perimeter and knockdown shots. She averaged 9.5 ppg last season for the Lady Eagles. Jakes does a tremendous job of causing chaos at times as a on the ball defender. She plays really well away from the ball and constantly has her MOTOR on at all times.
