Listening to the instructors, organizers, and national evaluators share insight and critiques of players’ games were impactful for each of the attendees. A huge thanks to the Sincerely Savage team for the invite and hospitality during the event.
Let’s take a look at some of the best perimeter players at the event.
Ellington plays a fast-paced game. She looks to create as soon as she touches the ball and is constantly probing the defense. She thrived in drive and kick situations, always making the timely pass when identifying help defenders or reading to know if she can beat them to the rim. She is an acrobatic finisher at the rim which is a great compliment to her speed to get there.
Taylor Stanfield
Taylor Stanfield
Stanfield made the trip all the way from Cincinnati, OH, and did not waste the investment of her parents and coaches. She looked good off the bounce, especially when shooting the jumper. Her length paired with her athleticism made it very hard for defender to get an effective contest. She also showed some good body control on her finishes at the rim, even through contact.
C’India Dennis
C’India Dennis
Dennis was likely the most productive point guard at the event once games started. She was bumped up to the high school group and continued to impress. She checked every box during the event. She has quickness and vision and uses them both to get herself and her teammates easy baskets. She’s an engaged defender on and off the ball. She picked ball-handlers for steals when on ball and got a lot of deflections from the help spots. Very quick hands and he understands giving help and still guarding yours.
Hailey Houlder
Hailey Houlder
Hailey has an athletic build to go along with great athleticism. With a business like demeanor on the court, she did everything with a sense of urgency. Really liked her desire to lock up on defense. She has a very good handle and is a really good passer with either hand. Although she has good quickness she is patient on the floor and makes good decisions.
May Owens
May Owens
Although one of the youngest players at the event, she already shows the makeup of a good point guard. She defends extremely well on the ball and can get by the first defender consistently. She’s vocal as well and not afraid to show leadership with not just her actions but with her words.
Janiyah Hargrave
Janiyah Hargrave
A lot to like about her game. She has a long wiry frame and is active on the defensive side of the ball. She made several passes challenging with active hands. She made a few very impressive drives to the rim where she used her long arms to stretch to the rim, making it tough for defenders to challenge without fouling.
Aubriyana Camp
Aubriyana Camp
Aubriyana has a nice feel on the floor. She sliced through the defense on straight-line drives and can get north and south when dribbling around the perimeter very quickly. A good finisher who can really get some tough ones to go around defenders.
Giaunni Rogers
Giaunni Rogers
Rogers is a guard with a strong frame and plays a physical game on the perimeter. Her style of play held up well when playing against older players. She really likes the mid-range pull-up and catch-and-shoot three. She did very well spacing herself from the ball to make defenders make a decision on who to guard. She muscled some finishes at the rim through contact and traffic.
Carib Morris
Carib Morris
She got a lot of eye-opening looks and the instructors seemed impressed at each station. The 6’0 shooting guard was a major mismatch for most players. She is highly skilled for her age and size. A confident shooter who sees the ball fall through the net often. Capable of playing on the inside and perimeter.
