With this being a huge weekend for homecomings, many leagues struggled to pull teams in. Al was not only able to keep things running smoothly every game was competitive going down to the wire. Here are some of the top performers of the weekend.
Gabrielle Clary Gabrielle Clary 5'8" | SG Pallotti | 2024 State MD l 5-7 l Guard l Pallotti l 2024
Gabby knocked down four three pointers in the win over McDonogh finishing with a game high 20 points. She had some nice drives including the move of the day with a change up dribble in transition that left the defender frozen at the elbow as she went in for an uncontested layup.
Aliyah Carroll – 5-11 l Wing l Forest Park l 2024
Aliyah is one of the best players most people have never heard of. She was solid on both ends of the court and checks a lot of the boxes that division on coaches are looking for. We will need to see her perform against some of the top players in her class to justify her rankings completely but what we have see so far shows that she has a lot in her bag to offer.
Makaela Quimby l 5-9 l Guard l McDonogh School l 2023
Makaela was able to show of her three range and I was especially impressed with her transition three pointer. She her game looked to be in mid season form as she was active on both ends of the court. She will be headed to Wake Forest after the season and he game should fit the ACC perfectly.
Nia Grimes l 5-7 l Combo Guard l Pallotti l 2023
Nia has emerged as one of the top players around. She is healthy and at a new school and was on fire from beyond the arc. The lefty made just about every shot that left her hand and word is she has been doing this all fall league. She’s moving from the Virginia rankings to Maryland it will be interesting to see where she lands.
Layla Burton l 5-4 l Point Guard l Parkdale l 2024
Layla led the charge along with Amaya Durrett Amaya Durrett 5'6" | CG Parkdale | 2025 State MD forming a solid and formidable back court. She blew past virtually every defender on the court in transition. She has a good first and counter move, her in and out dribble seems to be her go to move.
Trinity Massenburg Trinity Massenburg 6'1" | PF Baltimore Poly | 2023 State MD l 6-1 l Wing l Baltimore Poly l 2023
Trinity was solid leading Poly in several categories in strategically limited minutes. The George Mason commit had nothing to prove she just went out and performed. Rebounded and finished well Trinity has improved year after year to become one of the elite players in the region.
Gabrielle Kennerly l 5-10 l Guard l Howard l 2023
Gabby had a solid game, she shot the ball and finished well in a tight contested game against Pikesville. She made her free throws at the end of the game to seal the win. Watching her since before middle school it’s hard to believe that it’s her senior year already. As one of the top players in the class Gabby is set to have a great year as she eyes that state title that alluded her last season.
