The high school girls basketball season in New Jersey is quite literally around the corner, meaning that it's the perfect time to take a look at some all-conference and all-league watch list players. There's plenty of them around the state, but in this article, we'll be looking at the Burlington County Scholastic League.

If we miss any players, please do let us know so we can include them in future watch lists and preseason content.

[player_tooltip player_id='404215' first='Payton' last='Arnold'] - PG/SG, New Egypt (2023)

Arnold returns as the playmaker for New Egypt and their leading scorer, averaging 12.4 points a game as a junior. She's a great shooter and an all-around force on the offensive side of the floor. Her defense has come a long way as well, becoming a dual-threat on both sides of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='404449' first='Cadence' last='Anderson'] - 5- PG, Palmyra (2024)

You might not think that a 5-5 point guard can record nearly 1.5 blocks a game, but Anderson did that with ease as a sophomore. One of the most well-rounded guards in South Jersey, Anderson has stood out in a number of different departments, from scoring to shooting to rebounding and defense. She can really do it all on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='404208' first='Alayjah' last='Highsmith'] - 5-6 PG/SG, Pemberton (2023)

Pemberton is set up to have a great season this winter/spring because of a four-player tandem that begins with Highsmith at the point. She was the leading scorer for the Hornets last year as well as one of their best defensive players. Highsmith has a few other players in the backcourt to be able to play off of, but she'll be running the show at the top of the key.

[player_tooltip player_id='414312' first='Qui-Mia' last='Wilkins'] - 5-7 SF/SG, Pemberton (2025)

Wilkins is an interesting player, an intriguing player to watch for Pemberton this season after shining as a freshman for the Hornets. Averaging well over one block and four steals a game, she's the real deal on the defensive side of the ball and her offense has spoken for itself down on the post.

[player_tooltip player_id='406932' first='Aneesa' last='Artis'] - SG, Burlington City (2024)

One of the better shooters in the BCSL, Artis knocked down 42 three-pointers last season for Burlington City and hit her stride toward the end of the season when it came to consistently knocking down threes. If she can combine the scoring success of the first half of last season with the shooting success of the second half of the year, boy is she going to be a nightmare to defend.

[player_tooltip player_id='481575' first='Jada' last='Jacobs'] - 5-6 PG, Medford Tech (2023)

We've talked at length about Jacobs and for good reason because she's one of the most gifted and talented point guards in South Jersey, period. A crafty scorer and an effective scorer, Jacobs averaged 18.4 points a game as a junior and should contest for that 20 point mark as a senior. She has Player of the Year potential without a doubt in this league.

[player_tooltip player_id='134656' first='Gabby' last='Loftin'] - 5-6 SG/SF, Florence (2023)

Jacobs is going to have some competition this season in the form of Loftin, one of the most well-rounded guards in the BCSL and one of the best defenders without a doubt. You're looking at a 17.6 points per game scorer and someone who averaged nearly six steals a game. She's quick, crafty and smart, playing with aggression and poise.

[player_tooltip player_id='481578' first='Riley' last='Carr'] - PF, Maple Shade (2023)

Carr has gone under-the-radar in South Jersey, but has held her down down on the block as a forward. She's not only the best front court option for Maple Shade this season, but the best scorer and playmaker that the team has. Carr can get buckets down low, get to the foul line, haul in rebounds and block shots when needed.

[player_tooltip player_id='404204' first='Brooke' last='Sztenderowicz'] - 5-7 PG/SF, Cinnaminson (2023)

The leader of this high-octane Cinnaminson team, Sztenderowicz has done her part to be one of the best point guards in the region and league. She's improved her shooting greatly and knocked down 50 three-pointers last season. Her ability to draw contact should not go unnoticed, making 23 more free throws than her next-closest teammate. Sztenderowicz will do what it takes to make a play and get a basket in crunch time.

[player_tooltip player_id='481588' first='Nya' last='Marseille'] - PG/SG, Burlington Township (2023)

There might not be a better player in the BCSL at drawing contact and making things happen inside the lane than Marseille, who took nearly 10 free throws a game as a junior. It's not often that you see players average nearly 18 points a game in high school and that inside presence has just increased her playmaking ability over time.

[player_tooltip player_id='326949' first='Riley' last='Ahrens'] - 5-10 PG/SF, Delran (2023)

Ahrens is an interesting player to watch as someone who can run the point just about as well as anyone else in South Jersey, but has the height and size to be a factor in the paint. She does both incredibly well, recording over two blocks a game while knocking down 48 three-pointers and scoring 14.1 points a game. She's balanced her play well and has benefitted greatly as a result.
