Hayden Wilkins, 5’8 G – St. Johnsbury Academy Class of 2024
Hayden is a gamer, there’s no two ways about it. A natural combo-guard with PG abilities, Wilkins is a three-level scorer and playmaker for a St. J team that ought to be pushing for a finals appearance this winter. Hayden’s got deep range from three and can knock it down by creating in an isolation situation or even more efficiently, off the catch. Moreover, her three-level scoring forces a lot of defensive attention and Wilkin’s balances her scoring output well with her playmaking, hitting forwards, cutters, and shooters with crisp passes for clean looks. Defensively gritty too, Hayden loves to compete and relishes the opportunity to take on tough guards. Hayden is an all-around hooper with an appetite for tough games.
Kaia Anderson, 5’9 G – St. Johnsbury Academy Class of 2024
Kaia slides into the wing slot alongside Hayden, making for a two-headed monster on the wing at St. Johnsbury. Anderson is a gritty two-way player who can do it all, taking on tough defensive assignments 1-3, scoring with efficiency, and greasing the wheels of the offense with her heady approach. On the defensive end, Kaia moves her feet well and when coupled with her physicality she gives opponents minimal breathing space. Fundamentally sound on the offensive end, Anderson has good footwork and a clean handle, getting in the paint intuitively for lay-ups and heady passes as the defense collapses. Anderson is a smart ball mover who can create looks herself in a pinch too when necessary. Anderson’s approach to the game is balanced and business-like.
Neveah Parrish, 5’5 G – Champlain Valley Union High School Class of 2024
A tactful point guard, it’s likely Neveah will head the second unit at CVU with heads up facilitation and consistent communication. Parrish has a good sense of tempo, pushing the break when momentum is there but she’s keen to slow it down and run sets when wise. Neveah handles on-ball pressure well with her polished handle as she directs traffic, yet also moves well off the ball with intuitive spacing and cutting; her hoop IQ and feel are quite apparent. Defensively, Parrish gets into ballhandlers well with her quick feet and low center of gravity, proving pesky as she sticks to opponents’ hips. Moreover, her ongoing communication makes for smooth defensive rotations as informs teammates of incoming actions. Parrish’s understanding of the game paired with her skill make her a strong second option at the PG slot.
Julia Decker, 5’8 W – Burr and Burton Academy Class of 2024
Decker is a 3 and D sort of wing. She hits her shots efficiently off the catch, finding her looks in the flow of the offense. Not one to dominate the ball, Julia keeps the offense rolling with quick decisions and sound off-ball movement. Decker runs well in transition too, finishing nicely at the cup with her length. On the defensive end, her length serves well, for she can disrupt passing lanes while sticking close to her opponent. Julia is also a good helper off the ball, sliding into position nicely on drives and rotating well on kick outs. Decker is an integral piece for Burr and Burton as they look to bounce back from a tough ’21-’22 season.
Dieuna Beynonn, 5’4 G – Burlington High School Class of 2026
I’m excited to see where Dieuna ends up this winter, for she could be a force as the leader on BHS’ JV squad, or she could fill in as a savvy second option at the Varsity level. Beynonn is a tough two-way PG, apt to pick ballhandlers up in the full court and wreak havoc as she slides her feet with impressive agility, causing turnovers with her active hands and turning defense into offense. On the offensive end, she’s a controlled guard who orchestrates the offense well and gets everyone involved. On the other hand, Dieuna can call her own number, breaking defenders down and finishing with a nice lay-up/floater package. Beynonn is someone I’ll be keeping tabs on.
Camille Woods, 5’9 W/F – Rutland High School Class of 2026
Camille is another one who’s on the cusp of either leading the JV team or sliding into a role with the second unit for the Varsity squad at RHS. Woods has a nice feel for the game, capable of occupying the post positions and short corner or stepping out onto the wing doing damage out there via her poised slashing game and fluid jumper off the catch. Defensively gritty, Camille can defend wings and forwards alike, using her strength, anticipation, and physicality to keep opponents from getting to their spots. Lastly, Woods is also an aggressive rebounder and outlets it quickly but can also go coast-to-coast once in a while.
