Continue ReadingThe class of 2025 is loaded with talent from top to bottom. These back-court buckets are names to keep an eye out for as the 2022-2023 season progresses.
5’7 G (Dream City Christian): Stenson is an ELITE athlete in the class of 2025. She is fast, physical and can jump out of the gym. Offensively, she is capable of getting downhill and finishing at the rim or knocking down shots from the perimeter. Defensively, her lateral quickness makes her so tough to try and get by for opposing ballhandlers. Look for Stenson to continue to improve and climb the ladder as one of the best guards in the class of 2025.
5’10 G Olivia Frankel Olivia Frankel 5'10" | SG Notre Dame Prep | 2025 State AZ (Notre Dame Prep): Frankel is a name to look out over the next 3 years. Frankel is a lengthy guard with a really nice jumper. She is capable of shooting over shorter defenders with her height as well as getting put-back layups. Frankel’s length allows her to be a menace on the defensive end of the ball by always being in passing lanes and creating deflections. Frankel is averaging 7pts and 2 stls a game in her first 6 games of the new season for Notre Dame Prep. Frankel is a prospect with a very high ceiling.
5’5 G Kahlia Gonzales Kahlia Gonzales 5'5" | PG Mesquite | 2025 State AZ (Mesquite): Gonzalez is a quick scoring guard in the class of 2025. She is able to use her dribble to zoom past her defenders for easy lay-ups. Defensively, she has quick hands and does a really good job at jumping passing lanes for steals. Gonzalez is currently averaging 13.5pts and 5stls a game on a 6-0 Mesquite team. Look for Gonzalez to electrify the phoenix area with her scoring and timely steals.
5’7 G Symirah Gray Symirah Gray 5'7" | CG Poston Butte | 2025 State AZ (Poston Butte): Gray is an elite defender in the class of 2025. Her physicality and quickness allows her to defend any guard in the state at a high level. Offensively, she is an exceptional floor general as she is able to initiate her teams offense and create scoring opportunities for herself as well as her teammates. Gray is averaging 13 Pts, 5rbs and 4asts a game for her Poston Butte team through their first 6 games.
5’9 G Ayanna Goode Ayanna Goode 5'9" | PG North | 2025 State AZ (North): Goode is an exceptional scoring guard in the class of 2025. She is capable of making shots from the perimeter, the midrange, and at the rim. Goode was her 6A team’s leading scorer as a freshman last year and is poised for a breakout sophomore season. Goode is currently averaging 13pts a game, but I anticipate that number to grow over the entirety of the season.
5’5 G Victoria Ballard Victoria Ballard 5'4" | CG Cesar Chavez | 2025 State AZ (Fairfax): Ballard is one of the best shooters in the class of 2025. She has silky-smooth jump shot from the 3 point arc that she shoots at a very high percentage. Ballard is one of those shooters that if she gets hot, you have to face guard her because she isn’t missing the rest of the night. Ballard is currently averaging 12 points a game on a very good Fairfax team.
5’5 G Haley Foster (Leading Edge Academy-GEC): Foster is another really good scoring guard in the class of 2025. She can finish at the rim as well as knock down shots from three. Foster is also an elite defender that is really good at creating turnovers. Foster is currently averaging 15pts, 5rbs, and 7stls a game through her teams first six games.
