I caught Kaylie Carr Kaylie Carr 5'10" | PG Legion Prep Academy | 2025 State TX with Team Stay Ready on the PGH Circuit and when you leave a lasting first impression, that speaks volumes. Here, one more time is a link to EVENTS I will be covering
WHITE
Kaylie Carr Kaylie Carr 5'10" | PG Legion Prep Academy | 2025 State TX -5’10 PG [2025]
Carr is one of the top sophomores in Texas, no need to debate, I’m just keeping it reals like I always do. Her midrange game, in the set as well as in transition is a definite plus for next-level coaches yet her athleticism coupled with her ballhandling makes her hard to handle. She’s explosive off the dribble and her acrobatic finishes, many times after contact are very nice yet so is her court vision as she threads the needle with crisp passes to give her teammates solid looks
Stella Suek-6’3 C [2025]
Suek used her body around the basket nicely as she not only scored on putbacks but around the basket as well. Her hands and footwork played a part in it yet so did her agility which on the flip worked out because she defended not only in the paint but outside of it, many times using lateral movement. She rebounded on both ends and ran the floor, on both ends but she also showed she could handle the ball in the open court and make solid passes
Lisee McGovern-6’1 PF [2024]
McGovern also used her body well on the inside. She understands positioning and rebounded both on the offensive and defensive end. She scored around the basket after contact and did a good job defending
Dayja Ambriz-5’5 G [2023]
Ambriz also played solid defense, she used her hands to come away with steals yet she also forced players to pick up their dribble or into the trap. Her playing the passing lane was another big plus
Makayla McKenzie-5’8 SF [2023]
McKenzie not only rebounded on both ends, but she also went after the ball off the rim, which is a lost art. She used some nice moves to get open around the basket and she finished after the contact
Molina
Theya Guidry [2024]
Guidry used a deceptive first step to get by the defender, both in the set as well as in transition, and her finishes off the dribble were nice, especially when you factor in her body control as well as scoring after the lick. She saw the floor and made good decisions and she understands how to control the tempo
Victoria Rodriguez [2023]
Rodriguez also got to the rim a variety of ways, her COP, change of pace both in the set as well as in transition was nice, and she also used the HEZ, hesitation, to get the defender leaning for her to get to the basket. She made good decisions as well as good passes to the right person at the right time
Brianna Salazar-5’6 G [2026]
Salazar has some pretty good upside when you factor in she’s only a freshman. She understands something very important, how to play within herself, and she also did a good job “getting hers in the flow” which falls into my Basketball 101 views on evaluating. She did a good job of creating her shot to attack or show the pull-up jumper
