These tournaments brought with them some fantastic basketball and great entertainment for the fans. Here’s a quick look at Friday’s standouts in the Blue Devil Holiday Tournament, which saw two games take place.
Jineen Ayyash – Ocean Township (2024)
Ayyash has gotten into the swing of things this season with Ocean Township and the versatile junior had a solid title game performance, with seven points, eight rebounds, three assists and a block. It was her best overall defensive game of the season.
Eli Clark Eli Clark 5'8" | PG Ocean Township | 2024 State NJ – Ocean Township (2024)
Clark has been on our radar for quite some time now, and the junior produced in a big way for Ocean Township on Friday, knocking down 4 three-pointers en route to a 16-point performance. She also had four assists and three steals, keeping pace with season averages in both categories.
Taylor Derkack Taylor Derkack 6'0" | SF Colonia | 2024 State NJ – Colonia (2024)
It was a rough day on the court for Colonia, but Derkack was able to be productive nonetheless, hitting five field goals and going 3-of-4 from the foul line for a team-high 13 points. Friday was Derkack’s lowest scoring performance of the season, but she’s still averaging 25.4 PPG this season.
Penelope Swarn Penelope Swarn 6'4" | PF Hightstown | 2025 State NJ – Hightstown (2025)
This is Swarn’s first year on varsity for Hightstown and her rebounding prowess was put on full display on Friday, her best game of the season. Swarn had 13 rebounds along with six points, two blocks and two steals. All around, just a fantastic game from the sophomore.
Angelina Benitez – Hightstown (2024)
We wanted to focus on a few underrated players from Friday’s games, and Benitez, a junior guard for Hightstown, played well, with eight points, a block and three steals. She’s been consistently producing on offense and has her scoring averages up drastically from last year.
Kyla Glasser-Hyman Kyla Glasser-Hyman 5'6" | PG Hightstown | 2023 State NJ – Hightstown (2023)
Glasser-Hyman did her thing and then some for Hightstown on Friday, scoring a team-high 17 points, along with five rebounds, four assists and five steals. We would be remised if we didn’t mention Caitlyn Nagle’s 11 points, seven rebounds and two steals for the Rams, but it was Glasser-Hyman who stole the show.
Reese Fiore Reese Fiore 5'6" | PG Shore | 2025 State NJ – Shore (2025)
Fiore is one of the better three-point shooters on Shore and she showed it on Friday, knocking down two three-pointers, scoring 13 points and recording three steals. In just six games, she’s nearly eclipsed her steals total from last year and is averaging 14.3 PPG.
Rylee Drahos Rylee Drahos 5'7" | CG Shore | 2023 State NJ – Shore (2023)
Drahos is must-watch basketball and when Shore needed her post to produce a title game victory in the Blue Devil Holiday Tournament, she did just that with a monster 22-point, 15-rebound performance, a double-double, to go along with 3 three-pointers and four steals. She’s very close to averaging a double-double on the season and is averaging over four steals a game for Shore so far.
