Glen Burnie used some increased pressure in the 3rd quarter to pull away and win comfortably, 45-26. Coach Sam Porter was able to ride his bench for the fourth quarter and the reserves actually increased their lead.
Alissa Young
Alissa Young
Alissa is a super competitive guard that brings a scorer’s mentality to the game. She consistently put pressure on the defense by pushing the ball in transition and getting into the paint, where she had some nice finishes. She showed good court awareness and made solid decisions with the ball.
Amourie was her usual productive self with 14 points, 12 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist. It looked like she could score whenever she wanted to, but she stayed within the offense and trusted her teammates to do their part.
Layla had a solid outing, putting up a stat line of 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. She knocked down a couple of threes and caused havoc on defense, using her speed and length to disrupt Reservoir’s offense.
Trinity Munford
Trinity Munford
Trinity came off the bench and played most of the fourth quarter. She was instrumental in helping the Gophers increase their lead while Coach Porter rested his starters. She scored 8 points, came up with 3 steals, 2 assists and a couple of rebounds while anchoring the defense and making sure the offense kept running smoothly. She definitely earned some more minutes down the stretch with this performance.
Aichatta was excellent on the defensive end of the court, locking down the paint and playing excellent help defense. She showed great instincts and timing with her 5 blocked shots. She has a nice touch around the basket and is not afraid to shoot from distance. She is a good passer and dished out 3 assists to prove it. If she improves her range she could be a promising stretch four prospect at the next level as she has good size.
