Paytn Harter
The Atlantic sophomore finished against ADM with an 18-point and ten-rebound double-double. The Trojan scored nearly half her team’s points and grabbed close to a quarter of all rebounds in the game. Harter helped her team compete and scored on eight of her ten-shot attempts, so not only did she score in volume, but the sophomore also scored efficiently for her team on Saturday night.
The Xavier sophomore has continued to excel and did it again against Waverly-Shell Rock to lead her Saints team to their fourth win in as many games this season. Fandel recorded 21 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in the Saints’ 56-47 win. The sophomore contributes in every aspect of the game, and Saturday showed what she’s done since getting to Xavier. I love how much pride she takes in her game and how she’s improved over the past two seasons. I suspect that’ll continue through her high school career.
Yazmeen Whitsitt Yazmeen Whitsitt 5'8" | PG Decorah | 2024 State IA
What makes the Decorah so dangerous is even if you “slow” one of the two Vikings down, the other could have an excellent night, and that’s what happened against Center Point-Urbana. Bryar Duwe Bryar Duwe 5'7" | PG Decorah | 2023 State IA had a solid but not a great-night, and Whitsitt hurt the Stormin Pointers all night. Whitsitt finished the game shooting eight-for-eight from the field, four-for-four from the 3-point line, and made two of her three free-throws. When you record 22 of the possible 23 points you could’ve had on your shots in a game, you probably set your team up to win the game, and the Vikings did win narrowly 57-52.
Jayden Kuper Jayden Kuper 5'11" | SF Monticello | 2025 State IA
The sophomore led the game in scoring with 20 points in Monticello’s 60-51 win over Western Dubuque. Kuper also recorded the second most rebounds on her team with six. Kuper was aggressive all game and earned a handful of trips to the free-throw line. The Panther got to the line eight times and made seven, which adds up throughout the game. There will be more games this season where the Panthers win because the sophomore gets to the free-throw line and converts her attempts to earn points to extend a lead or shrink a deficit.
