Keep in mind, I can only go by the information in front of me. All schools do not turn in stats, well some schools used to pad the stats, I’m sure that still happens, which is why I put up the disclaimer “I HAVE TO SEE YOU” for myself, and please don’t forget I know of players that have averaged 30, 40, even 50 ppg that panned out in college so one more time “It’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against”
Kaelyn Hamilton Kaelyn Hamilton 5'10" | SF McKinney North | 2024 State TX -5’9 CG (McKinney North) 20.1 ppg [2024]
Hamilton smoothly operates from the 1 as well as the 2 effectively. She understands how to “control the tempo” as well as handle the ball under pressure. Her court vision is a huge plus as she sets her teammates up for easy baskets yet when she flips to the 2, she adds even more. She can create her shot, under pressure and knock down the mid to long-range jumper. She also has good body control while attacking the basket which enables her to finish after contact
Taylor Jones Taylor Jones 5'5" | CG Oak Ridge | 2024 State TX -5’6 CG (Oak Ridge) 19.6 ppg [2024]
Jones is an explosive scorer in more ways than one. Her first step is dangerous, which enables her to not only get to the rim but finish off balance, even after contact. She also has good range, mid to long, and her quick release while being guarded is one thing yet her ability to “catch and shoot” from distance is pretty impressive
Ayla McDowell Ayla McDowell 6'2" | SF Cy Springs | 2025 State TX -6’2 SG/SF (Cypress Springs) 16.2 ppg [2025]
McDowell is a perfect example of why numbers can be deceiving as she is one of the top players in the country. She’s long and athletic, which will always be the base yet her intangibles keep piling up. She gets her shot off whenever she wants because she elevates on her jumper and that, coupled with her length makes blocking her shot virtually impossible. The catch-and-shoot from deep had me smiling, and so did her finishing off the dribble yet her timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots JUST DID IT for me
Heather Baymon Heather Baymon 5'6" | PG Langham Creek | 2024 State TX -5’6 CG (Langham Creek) 15.9 ppg [2024]
Baymon can dazzle defenders in the open court with her shifty ballhandling yet that “stop and pop” jumper in transition is one of the best in the state. She also elevates on her jumper in the set, the midrange is nice, and so is her attacking the basket off the dribble and showing all types of acrobatic finishes. Let me not leave out her range, I recently caught her dropping 6 from deep via LIVESTREAM, many from NBA Range
Madison Clay Madison Clay 5'8" | SG Bridgeland | 2023 TX -5’7 SG (Bridgeland) 2023 13.2 ppg
Clay put on a shooting exhibition with her squad when I caught her at the Peggy Whitley Classic. She too is “long and athletic” and understands how to not create her shot under pressure but knock it down while being defended. She wants the ball “in the clutch” and she delivered time and time again yet she also scores “off the dribble”, as well as applied pressure defensively. I also enjoyed her understanding of “positioning” to rebound against taller players yet her playing the passing lane JUST DID IT for me
