The visitors improved to 10-1 overall and 8-0 in league play with a 68-61 victory. The Comets dropped to 4-3 and 3-2.
Here are reports on some of this game’s standouts:
If you’re a hoop head, Miller is a joy to watch. She’s ultra-efficient and really makes everyone around her better with her excellent court sense. The sophomore is a three-level scorer and an excellent on-ball defender. She has a sweet-looking outside shot with a quick release and finishes at the rim.
A four-year starter for the Regals, Gaarde is as steady as they come. She handles pressure expertly, and passes precisely and on time. Her lefty shot proves effective from beyond the three-point arc or when driving to the hoop. She’s a tenacious on-ball defender.
Alli Clark
Alli Clark
Clark is a handful for defenses. She consistently knocks down perimeter shots. When opponents attempt to take that away, she drives by them and finishes well at the rim or in the mid-range. She dribbles it proficiently with both hands and finds open teammates when she’s given extra attention. She defends and rebounds well for a guard.
Morgan Squires
Morgan Squires
Squires plays a lot like Clark. She offers a well-rounded offensive game with an ability to score on all three levels. She boasts good length and plays aggressively but under control. She can finish through contact and rebound. She doesn’t back down on defense.
The Iowa State signee ranks as one of the state’s top prospects for a reason. She can do it all. She scored 32 points and grabbed nine rebounds in this contest despite being saddled with foul trouble. She’s a three-level scorer, passes well and hits the glass hard. Her length and athleticism helps her defend multiple positions.
Hall is a hard-nosed competitor who maximizes her talents. She shows good form and a quick release on her outside shot. She can drive and finish at the rim. She’s not afraid to mix it up on the backboards, and defends well with quickness, good footwork and strength.

Sophie Buysse
A standout on the volleyball court for a Comet team that reached the state tournament, Buysee is no slouch on the hardwood. She dribbles well with both hands and does a nice job finding open teammates. She displays good form on her shot. Her athleticism allows her to defend at a high level. She’s a tough kid.
