A four-year starter for the Regals, Gaarde is as steady as they come. She handles pressure expertly, and passes precisely and on time. Her lefty shot proves effective from beyond the three-point arc or when driving to the hoop. She’s a tenacious on-ball defender.

Grace Gaarde Grace Gaarde 5'3" | PG Iowa City Regina | 2023 State IA returns for her senior year coming off of a season where herself and Iowa City-Regina made it to the state tournament, stringing together a big run once the playoffs began. This season will be much more challenging as the Regals will lose all their height in the middle but with a efficient coach and smart system, they should come out just fine. Gaarde is a scoring point guard with unselfish tendencies when it comes down to it. She has a steady jump shot with a quick release but doesn’t like to settle if she doesn’t need to. She has a strong handle while exhibiting a great pass fake when the ball is on rotation on the offensive end. This season I could see Gaarde and star freshman, Morgan Miller Morgan Miller 5'9" | PG IC - Regina Catholic | 2025 State IA , lead the Regals back to the state tournament if everything falls into place for them. Their determination and hardworking attitudes will provide a crucial role in all this.

Grace Gaarde Grace Gaarde 5'3" | PG Iowa City Regina | 2023 State IA is a major key to the success of the Regina Regals as they will look to compete during the regular season and into the playoffs. Making the state tournament last year after a solid season was always in the cards for the Regals with a fluid offense, good defensive system, veteran players, and good coaching. This season will tend to bring more obstacles though as they will lose their presence in the middle due to graduation. I don’t see this impacting Gaarde and other guard play but instead forcing them to elevate their games to another league so that the Regals can still compete at the same level they did a year ago. Gaarde, the 5’4 point guard, is a scoring first guard who likes to shoot the three ball. She does a good job of having the same shooting form every shot she puts up, along with being able to dribble and finish on a fast break. On top of the basketball skill she possesses, she is a great teammate. Always being a vocal influence while leading with positivity. During the 21′-22′ season it was the back court play of Gaarde and Morgan Miller Morgan Miller 5'9" | PG IC - Regina Catholic | 2025 State IA which led their team on its big playoff run. I don’t see that changing much this winter.

Grace Gaarde Grace Gaarde 5'3" | PG Iowa City Regina | 2023 State IA comes back for her senior season looking to take The Regina Regals back to state along side of Morgan Miller Morgan Miller 5'9" | PG IC - Regina Catholic | 2025 State IA . Acting as a “2 headed” attack last season with Grace and Morgan switching off at the 1 & 2 guard it will be the same for this upcoming season. Averaging 11.1 PPG on 40.6% shooting, and 5.4 APG, ranking her 3rd in 2A, it will be hard for teams to stop the back court of the Regals. On top of that Gaarde recorded 77 steals in the 21′-22′ season, ranking her in the top 40 in that category as well. Watching her last year it is easy to say that this Regina team will go wherever Grace takes them, being a vocal leader on and off the floor. Something that stood out to myself last year was how she is always hyping up her teammates with positivity the entire game. When you add these factors of the Regals back court along with returning Alli Clark, who shot 52% last year, and a very knowledgeable coach in Mary Rogers, Regina should have another very successful year after finishing 20-5 last year.
