Sabine Brueck, 5’9 G – North Country Union High School Class of 2025
I can’t get enough of Sabine’s game. Brueck plays with so much hustle, anticipation and poise that she can’t be rattled. It was a classic Sabine performance, chock full of boards, steals, transition finishes and a few threes to go with. Leading all scorers on the day, Sabine finished with 19. But more impressively, Sabine locked in against MMU’s toughest wing player and fronted her in the post where the loves to operate. It doesn’t seem to matter what you throw at Brueck, she’s going to handle it.
Cora Nadeau Cora Nadeau 5'9" | SG North Country | 2023 State New E , 5’11 G/W – North Country Union High School Class of 2023
It was a rather quiet night in the scoring column for Nadeau as she chipped in 11 points. However, she did have her hands full defensively. Cora is a natural wing, but she had to get physical down in the post with all of MMU’s forwards. Nonetheless, Cora did a solid job fronting the post and prevented easy entries. Moreover, she boxed well did her piece to keep MMU off the offensive glass. It was nice to see Cora’s versatility and willingness to adapt her game to what was needed for the team.
Anie-Rose Souza – 5’10 W/F – Burr and Burton Academy Class of 2024
Anie-Rose stuffed the stat sheet in the opening round matchup against Essex. I had Souza on double-double alert with 11 points and nine rebounds. In addition, she collected four steals and had four blocks as well. Anie-Rose got her buckets in the flow of the offense, notching a three and a few finishes around the rim. But it was her defense that impressed. She absolutely controlled the interior and made drivers think twice before putting up their shot. Additionally, she read passing lanes well for steals, especially out of ball screens. A nice performance from the versatile Souza.
Neveah Camp, 5’8 G – Burr and Burton Academy Class of 2024
The first off the pine for BBA, Neveah came in and immediately relieved Burr and Burton of the constant pressure from Essex. Camp navigated the press well, making crisp passes and attacking the rim when lanes were there. Neveah chipped in 12 points, half of which came from an efficient evening from free throw line. Additionally, she got the rim and finished looks around the cup. Lastly, Neveah cleaned the glass and advanced the ball nicely. Neveah will be an important piece off the bench for BBA.
Cherise Shamp, 5’11 G/W – Mount Mansfield Union High School Class of 2023
A true ball hawk, Shamp knows how to get after the rock. Cherise collected a number of steals out of the MMU press, some on-ball rips and a few off of savvy reading of passing lanes. Additionally, she did her typical work on the glass, collecting boards on both ends. She led MMU with 18 points, that production coming from the free throw line and around the cup. It seems Shamp is one of the few wings left with savvy post up games, and she utilized her post arsenal to get buckets and draw fouls. Cherise has been clicking to start the year.
Allie Fullem, 6’1 F – Mount Mansfield Union High School Class of 2023
Always a double-double threat when she steps on the floor, Allie was cleaning glass all evening. I’m not sure what her board count was but it had to be near double digits. Furthermore, she contributed 13 points to the MMU cause. Much of her offense came within the paint as she acquired precious post position and finished over the top of the defense. On the defensive end, Allie showed nice versatility. She clogged up the paint and moved her feet on the perimeter. Fullem’s skill set is as modern as forwards get these days.
Breya Montague Breya Montague 5'9" | SG Essex | 2024 State New E , 5’9 G – Essex High School Class of 2024
Breya’s multifaceted game is a joy to watch. Montague opened the game with a few nice steals out of the press, finding teammates with quick and aware passes for easy twos. Of course, she also finished her early looks around the rim too. As the game wore on, Breya found the range from three and hit a mid-range jumper to give EHS a bit of momentum. Montague’s defense out of the press, with her length and anticipation, were key to Essex keeping it close on a team-wide off night. Breya’s scoring, facilitating and defense steer the ship for EHS.
Alexa Rabidoux, 5’7 G – Essex High School Class of 2025
It was Lexi’s first breakout game of the season. Rabidoux put together a nice stat line, producing 12 points, eight rebounds and upwards of five steals, possibly more. Lexi found her offense around the cup, finishing drives in both the halfcourt and on the break. Yet she might be one of EHS’ best rebounders, for her pursuit of the ball is constant and anticipatory. And of course, her defense was locked in. She collected steals on and off the ball and went coast-to-coast a couple of times. I’m looking forward to more of this from Lexi.
