Kierra Merchant Kierra Merchant 5'10" | CG Westfield | 2023 State TX -G (Westfield)
Merchant showed off her impressive athleticism by not only gliding through the air and defying gravity with her acrobatic finishes, but she also dropped the midrange in the set as well as the stop and pop in transition. She snagged rebounds and went coast to coast to either finish or hit teammates
Olivia Shaw- G/F (Clear Creek)
Shaw played all 5 positions, effectively and the more I watch her play, the more she shows me which is definitely #THROWBACK. She can score on putbacks, and she rebounds on both ends, yet she also has the “hands and footwork” down and scores around the basket. She understands how to create her shot and dropped the mid to long-range
Aubrey Campbell-F/C (Klein Collins)
Campbell is long and athletic, one more time, that is the base. She has good timing to block, alter, and (or) deflect shots yet her rebounding ad interior defense stood out. She also scored around the basket, attacked the rim from the wing, she even stepped outside the paint to man-up
Ra’Niyah Lewis- G (Conroe)
Lewis was one of the best elementary school players I had seen, I dropped #D1Lock on her and her ability to set the defender up to get her shot off was already there. She has DEEP range yet she attacks the rim powerfully. She also rebounds on both ends and saw the floor
Payton Findlay-F and Briana Dickson-F (The Woodlands)
Findlay and Dickson took turns filling it up from long-range and since both numbers have a 2 in them, they also dropped the midrange. Both understand how to not only “play within themselves” but get theirs “in the flow
Amari Chambers-F/C (Cy Creek)
Chambers is “long and athletic” see above and watching her elevate to block shots as well as rebound is always a plus for me. She enjoys applying heat, she can do it inside the paint as well as bring baseline to baseline pressure. She also drops the short jumper as well as uses her first step to get by defenders and score
Joerdan Thomas-G (Cy Creek)
Thomas’s range just keeps getting deeper and her progression, which is what I always look for, just kept elevating since I caught her a few years ago. She’s strong and attacks the basket with power, finishing after contact yet watching her not only create her shot and drop it, her “catch and shoot” was clicking too
Micah Elegores Micah Elegores 5'6" | PG Katy Taylor | 2023 State TX -PG (Katy Taylor)
Elegores is a prototype point guard that looks to get her teammates involved early. Her ballhandling under pressure has always impressed me, and so has her court vision. and watching her “thread the needle” between defenders to her teammates has been a treat. Don’t get it twisted, she’s also a scoring point guard and when it’s crunch time, it’s lunchtime for her
