Week one of the girls basketball season saw record breaking performances from a few players across the state. These are the ones that I know of, there may be more. Feel free to contact me through Twitter if you know of any others.
She set the school record for points (43), field goals made (17), and rebounds (26) in a 71-29 season opening win over Mount Vernon. She Followed with 35 points and 22 rebounds in a win over Lincoln of Seattle. She also had 6 assists. This has to be one of the greatest starts in the history of WA high school girls basketball. She is a really skilled player with size at 6’0. She is obviously active and moves well, like a guard. She knows what to do with it when she gets it on the block. She doesn’t waste much time either way. She will go by the defense with a fake and is great at drawing fouls. She has a really nice looking shot from three with a quick release. Big time talent for Monroe.
I can’t say that I am surprised by her 35 point effort in her 2nd varsity game as a freshman. She broke the school record in her 2nd career game. In the first game she had 23 points and 12 rebounds in about 20 minutes of playing time. She is the most skilled player I’ve seen at her age come through Washington girls hoops. She will break her own record before long. A lot of that comes from her ability to be an absolute knock down shooter. She is money from deep. That’s hardly all she can do. She gets to the basket with some great dribble drives that show off her handles and variety of moves. She is worth the price of admission. She has help as well on a team that has shooters all over the place. Union will be a tough out come post-season play. Brooklyn will be in the running for the state player of the year. As a freshman.

She set a record of 35 points, then followed with 34, and 26. I wrote about her in a previous article. The points came with ease and she wasn’t exactly taking a ton of shots. She also had some great passes for assists. She went 11-12 from the line in one of those games, showing off her shooting touch.
I’m not sure if it’s a school record but she did drop 40 points in the season opening 79-30 win over Mount Vernon. The dynamic quick guard is a blur on the floor. She gets to the basket in a hurry. She has an arsenal that includes step back threes and pull up jumpers. She has a beautiful smooth shot from distance. That quickness is what makes her a playmaking and scoring guard that will blow by the defense or knock down open threes consistently. Dynamic player.

She opened her high school career with a 30 point, 15 steal performances unofficially. She followed that up with a school record 36 points vs Black Hills. This is another freshman. Washington girls basketball appears to be in good hands!
