I've been to 29 high school games this season, including games in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Today, I want to highlight some of the kids who've excelled in games I've been to and aren't committed to playing at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='342096' first='Tierney' last='Madigan']

When you watch the Laconia sophomore, she doesn't do anything flashy, but after the game, you look at the box score and see she led both teams in scoring and held the other team's best player to single digits. The Spartan can create off the dribble, score at all three levels, and defends from the one through the four. You also won't find many better wing rebounders than Madigan.

[player_tooltip player_id='533065' first='Rowan' last='Klesmit']

The No. 1 thing I look for in guards is how well they can create with the ball in their hands. She won't have the lion's share of the ball for the next two years, but her decision-making is a plus in her game. Against one of the best perimeter defensive units, Klesmit couldn't have looked more comfortable.

Kenzie Deaton

Any coach would love to have a player like Deaton. Even when she's not 100%, you'll find her flying after every loose ball and rebound that hits the floor and wanting to defend the other team's best perimeter player. The Wausau native battles for every advantage, and you can't miss it if you ever see her play.

[player_tooltip player_id='209597' first='Savannah' last='James']

There aren't many kids who can heat up from the 3-point line quicker than James. Against Laconia in the first half, when the Black Hawk offense was stagnant, James ripped off a personal 12-0 run to give her team a lead. The Spartans weren't leaving her or anything. James doesn't need much space, but once she gets going, it's more about weathering the storm.

[player_tooltip player_id='206578' first='Taylor' last='Wojcinski']

I'm not sure where Wojcinski fits positionally at the next level, but if she wants to play in college, it'll be hard for coaches to keep her off the floor. She's a physical kid who is one of the best rebounders I've seen this year and has a fair amount of finesse to her offensive game. She's comfortable taking and making a 15-foot jumper, can power through contact around the rim, and step out and knock down some 3-pointers if she chooses.

[player_tooltip player_id='528116' first='Autumn' last='Dibb']

I love watching Dibb because of her level of aggressiveness. Sometimes she goes a little too far, and that shows up in foul trouble, but I'd prefer a kid who needs to settle down over a kid you need to amp up. The Muskego native seems to be the biggest tone-setter for the Warriors, and when she takes control of the ball, good things tend to happen.

[player_tooltip player_id='421314' first='Kyra' last='Funk']

After not playing much on last season's uber-talented Hortonville team, Funk has taken her opportunity this year and ran with it. She looks confident when she gets the ball and is comfortable doing more than her role asks. If the situation arises, the senior can get to the rim and create a little off the weak side, but make no mistake. Funk's out there because she can flat-out shoot it.

[player_tooltip player_id='266988' first='MiKayla' last='Werner']

After the numbers came in, apparently Werner didn't record a double-double, but what she did do is crazier. The junior snagged 19 rebounds in a win against a talented Minnetonka team at Hopkins. She dominated the boards, and every time there was a miss, there was almost a conditioned mentality where you expected the ball to get snagged by Werner, and it usually was.
