Tuesday, we released the Winter rankings update for the Class of 2024. There were more than 25 new additions, plus a few players who raised their “stock”, so to speak, so subsequently there was some movement throughout the list. I wanted to take this time to circle back and address all of the ranked prospects, position by position. Below is a look at 44 shooting guard prospects who make up 22.0% of the rankings this time around, with analysis on a handful to “keep an eye on” detailed at the bottom.

KEEP AN EYE ON:
Bradie has stepped into a major leadership role as a Junior, and she’s been great this season, helping the Miners to an 11-1 record to begin the year. She has good strength at her size, she’s quietly tough-nosed, and she plays with a nice motor. She can handle the ball, initiate the offense, and find open teammates, but she’s such a good downhill attacker, plus she can make shots outside, and she’s so much more effective as a scorer than a primary ball-handler. She rebounds her position well, plus she’s a willing and versatile defender. She’s primed for a big grassroots season.
Mya has come out absolutely on fire this season, averaging 23.1 points per game through 11 games. Additionally, she’s snagging 3.7 rebounds, handing out 4.4 assists, and collecting 4.3 steals per game. She looks a little stronger, and it’s clearly paying dividends for her game. She is a complete guard, she has nice all-around athleticism, and she possesses solid length. She was really good during our Fall showcase, and you could see an improved season coming, but she has been a huge boost to the Lady Eagle lineup after transferring in from Lawrence Central last season.
Kennedy has gotten off to a strong start in 2022-2023 and has been pretty consistent. She scored a school record 40 points with 11 made 3-pointers against Concordia Lutheran earlier this year. She is averaging 23.6 points, while shooting a blistering 46.2% from 3-point range as well. Kennedy is a really nice athlete, she can get downhill and finish around the basket, but her perimeter shooting has been a huge problem for opponents. She’s also an effortful defender who does a nice job both on and off the ball. She’s not a huge grassroots kid, so check out Norwell sometime.
