It was a matchup that was competitive from start to finish with Hilton Head Island throwing everything it could at Bluffton. But, the Bobcats made late plays in the clutch and managed to leave the Seahawks’ nest having claimed a 50-45 win over Hilton Head Island.
The win improved Bluffton’s record to 10-3 while Hilton Head Island’s stood at 7-9.
How Things Progressed
Both the girls and boys’ games between the Bobcats and Seahawks were carried on a local Beaufort-area television station. It was must-see TV for anyone watching on the tube. It commenced as a defensive-minded contest with the Bobcats only leading by a baseball-esque 9-6 following the first quarter.
That changed after the second quarter as the Seahawks went into halftime with a 20-19 lead as Hilton Head Island connected on a buzzer-beating three to go into their locker room ahead by one.
The two teams remained evenly matched following three frames. This one remained up for grabs following the third quarter as, this time, it was Bluffton that maintained a one-point, 33-32 advantage.
Typically, the team that makes the clutch plays late in close games is the team that wins said contests. The Bobcats did just that. Clutch plays and free throw shooting managed to seal the deal on what was a 50-45 Bluffton win.
