We transition to another prospect from the same area, but a different school. Unfortunately, because of injury, Young had to witness most of her senior season from the bench, but she still managed to be a worthwhile-enough prospect to earn a spot in the collegiate ranks. Young will remain in-state as she committed to Coker. What makes Young stand out is how she combines the rebounding attributes of a big with the ball handling capabilities of a guard. Young’s final full season at 4A Hilton Head Island was 2022-23 where she averaged a double-double of 15.9 points and 13.7 rebounds plus 2.9 steals in 25 games which led the Seahawks to a playoff berth. Young has also played softball alongside her hoops accomplishments.

Young really lacks a true position on the floor but, you better make sure you play her. She constantly brings effort and a strong work ethic to the table every night. She does most of her damage around the paint area and just looks to outwork players. Lynda works around the paint and manufactures production on putbacks, rebounds and loose balls. She certainly isn’t afraid to work and put a good sweat in each game.
Young averaged 15.9 ppg and 13.7 rebounds last season for the Lady Seahawks. She enters her senior season with 818 career points and 606 rebounds.

Speaking of 2024s that play for 4A teams, Prep Girls Hoops recently got a glimpse of Young at a recent matchup the Seahawks played in region against a tough out in Bluffton. The Seahawks were dealt a 50-45 loss to the Bobcats, but Young made sure Hilton Head Island stayed in the game from start to finish as she put 22 points on the board. When one looks at Young, one may automatically assume that she is a four or a five. She rebounds as if she is one, but has ball handling skills more indicative of a two or a three. Combine her rebounding with her scoring and she is a double-double threat on a game-by-game basis.

Young put together her best statistical season in her sophomore campaign with the Seahawks as she went for 14.3 points and 8.8 points in the 20 games she competed in last season. In addition to the interior presence she presents, Young brings versatility with her ability to play a number of positions – including as a shooting guard and as a small forward. Young can also handle the ball as if she were a one or two guard and is a consistent threat to steal the ball and create extra possessions for Hilton Head Island. The Seahawks will be in their fourth season as a 4A team since moving up from 3A.

We go from Hilton Head Christian where Eagles flock to Hilton Head Island where Seahawks soar – and this one has done plenty of that throughout her career with 4A Hilton Head Island. While she plays mostly as a three or four in the frontcourt, she can display how versatile she is with minutes as a shooting guard. At times, Young will also display the dribbling and ball handling skills of many guards. She too is a consistent double-double threat on a game-by-game basis with her scoring and rebounding and adds being a threat to steal the ball to her over all game. Young averaged 14.3 points and 8.8 rebounds for the Seahawks last season.
