Plenty of more prospects will be covered this week as Angie, Haleigh and I will be discussing the great players we saw over the three days.
MVP by Class
It didn’t take long for Tessa to show everyone in the gym why she is headed to the Big Ten. Tessa can not only use her size to control things around the paint but she was most effective in transition and was not only able to score on the move, but was deadly from the perimeter. She is such a great leader and has the tools to take over a game if needed. She is currently ranked #4 in the most recent PGH Rankings. She was my 2023 MVP.
She continues to show what she is among the top 3 juniors in Ohio. She is as complete of a player in her class as anyone in Ohio. Berry (feature photo above) can handle the ball like a guard, push the tempo and stop and pop from the perimeter. Can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. She has a soft touch in the paint. Berry is my junior MVP from the weekend.
I don’t know what to say about this sophomore except to say how amazing she was in her two games. It was the first time I have seen her and walked away impressed. She is a 6-2 forward who plays the game at a very high level. Handles the ball so well for her size, can move well and score from anywhere. Strong at the rim, just takes command of the game. For all of you old timers, the first player she reminds me of is a young Carol Madsen (1989 Cincinnati Reading grad). Can score from the 3 and defend. She is my sophomore MVP.
She showed the crowd what I saw from her before she even got into high school. Her tenacity is at a high level and she leaves it all on the court. She made the play of the weekend when she sprinted into the bench but before she did, she grabbed the ball and fired it behind her to her teammate in the paint who scored. That is how she plays, She is aggressive and plays with energy. Can penetrate to the rim and is quick and active. Arianna is my 2026 MVP.
Symora Damon

She caught the eye of everyone, and showed that her future begins now. Symora does not play like an eighth-grader and she does it against top competition. Her talent is at a different level. Can score from deep behind the arc with good handles and athletic. She plays under control and can make plays happen. She is my 2027 MVP.
