Averaging 26 points and 13 rebounds per game while shooting 62% from the field is remarkable and no one should overlook the career that Leah has had. As of this writing, she’s competing for a Class A state title today and should be at Rupp Arena to compete for the overall state title in March. As mentioned above, I do think Macy has a puncher’s chance of winning the award but it’s likely to go to Johnson.

put on a dominant performance in the first round matchup against Pikeville. She asserted herself right off the gate on offense using a vary of post moves to finish at the rim and some nice face-up jumpers from the low block. Macy also brought the ball up the court and ran isolation plays on several possessions, which made it even more difficult to keep her in check. She finished the game with 31 points, 17 rebounds, an assist, 2 blocks, and a steal.

If you want a know what a special player does, let me preface this by telling you what the “norm” is for Macy. It is typical for her to score 20+ points and grab 15+ rebounds in a game. It doesn’t matter who she’s playing, she is capable of putting up huge numbers because she is that good. The opening round of the Sweet 16 was no different as she finished the game with 31 points, 17 rebounds, 2 blocks, an assist, and a steal. Macy can do it all and she just keeps improving every part of her game. Her outside shooting and ball handling is at a different level from a year ago. Her ability to finish over defenders and through contact is special. Just a really special player overall.
