Sievers has been the metaphorical “head of the snake” for the Mustangs on their journey this season. She is currently averaging 10.9 PPG, 5.1 RPG, and 7.4 APG while tailing up 41 steals thus far. This team has a lot of different weapons in the forms of different players but they will only go as Sievers does. She is their team leader, coach on the court, and overall play maker. She may not be the first scoring option but she takes a lot of pride in her ability to create for others and pass the ball. It seems from an outside view that she gets just as much, if not as much joy, passing the ball leading to an assist rather than scoring a bucket for herself. This is a trait not many players possess but those who do, shine. With that being said the point of Sievers place in this article is to highlight how efficient she has been scoring the ball this year. She comes into this ranked as #2 throughout the state in efficient field goal percentage. This tells everyone that the shots she does choose to take are high percentage looks. When playing for a high level program like Newell-Fonda, who will have good shot at a state championship this season, it shows a lot that she can run a successful offense and system.
Ella Hanner
Ella Hanner
Ella Hanner has started all year for the 16-0 Westwood Rebels and she has shot the ball at an incredibly high-rate, especially from behind the three point arc. Hanner comes in third on her own team in scoring but scoring the ball the most efficiently out of everyone. She is currently averaging just over 8 PPG, and 2.5 APG, which might not seem too crazy but this group prides itself on its complete team play so these numbers do play toward that aspect. While she is scoring these 8 PPG she is shooting 53.7% overall and 44.4% from behind the three point line. Bringing her efficient field goal percentage to an overall 66.3%, ranking her #4 in the state of Iowa throughout all classes. As this season comes to an end this group will attempt to keep up their undefeated streak alive, making a splash once the state playoffs begin behind Hanner and Company.
Bliss Beck
Bliss Beck
Bliss Beck is starting for a program that has been ranked in the top 10 all season and looking to make a statement during the playoffs this season. That team being the Clear Creek Amana Clippers. Beck is currently ranked #6 in the state in efficient field goal percentage in their first 13 games, averaging 10.8 PPG. She does a great job in her post position and stays in her lane by not trying to do too much during games. She has a good amount of star power starting with her on the court and coming off the bench with this squad so that she is doing so well while her team has success is nice to see. Going forward over the next couple of years this team is going to be relevant and a problem. They will graduate a few key members but overall will have everyone back again for another run at a successful season. I’m intrigued to see where the interest in Beck falls as she has good size for the post position in high school but will need to move to the 3 or 4 in college depending on the program. A change I think she can make but it may take a little bit of time to adjust.
Hudsyn Ranschau
Hudsyn Ranschau
Sioux City East has emerged as one of those teams this year that not many had big expectations coming into this season for but they have completely flipped the script on that story and are trending in the direction of getting to the state playoffs the way things are going. Leading the Pirates is a group of underclassmen that are taking the state by storm in Hudsyn and Haevyn Ranschau Haevyn Ranschau 5’9″ | SG Sioux City East | 2026 State IA , both of whom are playing out of their minds on the way to getting their team to the 11-2 mark in their first 13 games. Currently Hudsyn is sitting at 60.5% when it comes to efficient field goal percentage while averaging 14.5 PPG from the shooting guard position. On the season she has 148 total shot attempts with 116 of them coming from three so to say she is an efficient shooter would be an understatement. This team is going to finish this year out strong and have many more seasons to come in which they will be competing for a state championship with this group of ladies.
