Here are the 2023 Standouts I did catch live
Abigail Tomaski Abigail Tomaski 6'0" | SG Memorial | 2023 State TX -6’0 SG (Spring Branch Memorial)
Tomaski is a big guard that can shoot, mid to long-range and she has shown it over and over since I initially caught her as a freshman. What I enjoyed, even more, was her attacking the rim, as well as finishing after contact, not to leave out playing solid defense, rebounding, and playing the passing lane
Lacey Rice-5’8 G/SF (Amarillo)
Rice is long and athletic and plays taller than her listed size. Her first step creates problems yet creates is also what she does to get her shot off. In the set or in transition, she knocked down shots but watching her attack the basket and finish strongly also stood out. Good rebounder as well as a solid defender
Ahrianna Morgan-5’5 G (South Grand Prairie) TWU
Morgan is an athletic guard that is pesky on defense and helps creates turnovers, either by forcing players into traps or using her hands to come away with steals. She also made some nice passes in traffic as well as attacking the basket from a variety of angles to score or dish for assist opportunities
Macey Mercer-5’6 CG ( Coppell)
Mercer has been shooting the ball nicely every time I’ve caught her this season, first in the Alamo City Hoops Thanksgiving Throwdown and right here to show”nothing has changed”. Her ability to knock down the long ball with a hand in her face has always caught my eye yet she has added a quicker “catch and shoot” from deep. Throw in that she scores off the dribble as well as the midrange
Elizabeth Abiara-6’3 C (Mansfield Lake Ridge) Central Arkansas
Abiara is just a terror inside the paint, she will be added to the Top 100 in the upcoming update, yet her college-ready body creates plenty of problems. Her hands and footwork just keep getting better, and her finishing with players literally hanging on her speaks volumes about her strength. I also enjoyed watching her go after rebounds on both ends
Arianna Baldwin-5’6 CG (Pflugerville)
Baldwin is an athletic guard that understands how to get hers in the flow. Her deceptive first step got her by defenders, she finished after contact but her ballhandling and seeing the floor, both under pressure were equally impressive. Speaking of pressure, she applies it on the defensive end baseline to baseline, and that mid to long-range looked good as well
Jordyn Watts-5’9 SF (Pflugerville)
Watts is long and athletic, one more time, that will always be the base. Her ability to score off the dribble and finish strongly was nice, body control played a part in that, yet she also has UPS. Her elevating got her some blocks as well as deflections but it gave the offensive player something to think about as several shots were altered
Cpeeritt Plummer-5’11 PF/C (Pflugerville)
Plummer was a menace on both ends and this was one of the best individual performances I’ve seen since catching back up with her. She went after the ball off the rim, yet she also did it in the air as her timing got her some blocks. She also scored and finished around the basket, putbacks included and did a good job with her interior defense
