Now a co-ed event it’s attracting many of the nations top talent. Prep Girls Hoops Maryland will be checking out the girls action over the three days. Game one had IMG Academy (FL) vs St. John’s (DC), SJC was without their All-American Delany Thomas while IMG had a DMV feel with some familiar faces on the team. Here are some standouts from day the one game.
Olivia was named the game’s MVP scoring a team high 14 points in a 65-60 victory over St. John’s (DC). Olivia has DMV roots previously playing for Louisa County HS (VA). She has a great touch on her shot and made plays on both ends of the floor.
Kyndal Walker Kyndal Walker 5’9″ | PG St. John’s College | 2024 State MD solves the riddle of what does a team do when they loose an all-American to injury. She poured in a game high 23 points bringing the Cadets to within one point in the last minute and almost single-handedly willed them to victory. The three ball off of the dribble was looking really fluid and I was hoping that her teammates would put the ball in her hands for their final possession, however it didn’t happen. SCJ with Kyndal showed that they are in good hands until Thomas returns.
Highlights
Kelis is another DMV transplant that was formally at Roland Park (MD) before making the trip to Florida. She was spectacular pushing the ball and forcing the tempo of the game. She shot the three pointer well scoring 14 points adding 7 assist as well. She controlled the pace of the game running the point to precision.
Carolae was tough inside on the logging 14 rebounds to go with her 12 points. She showed a good mid-range touch and ran the floor well. She is improving each time we see her on the floor setting herself up for a bright future.
Asia yet another former player from the DMV formally at Paul VI (VA) was raining the threes. She scored all of her 12 points from beyond the arc with every shot looking pure. She needs little space and is accurate with a hand in her face. Every time the ball left her hand you can feel that it was going in.
