did not have a great shooting game in the semi-final, but she was outstanding in the final against Bishop McNamara. She shot the ball a lot better and had a game-high 18 points. She did well as a facilitator, and outside of a few late-game misses at the FT line, she played a high-level game. Kyndal was the MVP as St. John’s captured their 3rd straight WCAC title.

I talked earlier about how good the PVI defense was, and outside of the first couple of minutes of the first quarter and third quarter, St. John’s offense looked stuck. Kyndal Walker’s scoring in the second quarter was a big reason St. John’s wasn’t down heading into the half. She got into the lane using crafty moves to get fouled or finish at the rim. She also hit some tough mid-rangers.

Kyndal Walker had an almost flawless game in St. John’s 17-point win over Bethany. Whenever I watch Kyndal Walker, her rebounding always sticks out to me. She is a great athlete, and at 5’9″, she uses her athleticism so productively. She scored a lot inside and dominated this game in the paint. Kyndal finished with 23 points and was named the MVP of this game.

The gap between #1 and #2 is small but the top ranked player’s stock is still rising. Over the years I have seen both Kyndal and Madison play more than anyone outside of their parents, so the 24 player gap that ESPN has is very questionable not to say who should be higher. I would say that both players have held the top spot locally over the years and the final ranking could come down to the head to head battles on

Kyndal scoring 20 plus has become the norm this season. These rebounding totals, however, have been incredible from the point guard position. She averaged close to double figure rebounds in the SGGC and has been flirting with some triple doubles this season. Kyndal is making it really hard to keep her name off some of the preselected all-American teams.

I would put Kyndal as the POY front runner right now. She showed no signs of slowing down during the the Super Games Showcase and the SGGC. Headed into the WCAC season each team will be geared up to try and stop her. January 16th will be a key game as all eyes will be glued in the see the 1 vs 2 point guard matchup in Forestville against Bishop McNamara. Another twenty plus double-double with a win may just seal the deal.

Kyndal had her future head coach sitting courtside, a heckler about 10 feet away from her and a member of the McDonald’s committee 10 feet away from him. She played like she was on some type of mission reeling of three pointer after three pointer with a stare down after each one. She was in assassin mode looking to dominate whoever was in front of her. She also took on the challenge of locking up the top player from Bullis who stood about five inches taller than her. In the end Kyndal was sitting on an unofficial 25 points and a victory for the cadets.

. Walker carried the team through most of last season with senior Dulaney Thomas being injured. Even when Thomas returned she wasn’t at 100%. Kyndal knows what it takes to lead her team and Scribner is smart enough to let her do it.

Kyndal held on to the top spot overall and for point guards. Kyndal has mastered the ability to score and get others involved preventing defenses from playing five on four. She has good size for the point which will allow her to guard multiple positions in college.

It may be a good idea to get Kyndal fitted now for her McDonald’s jersey. Her senior year return to St. John’s makes the Cadets the favorite to be the 2024 WCAC Champions and she is the projected player of the year. She has a complete package of skills that translate to college and pro and should only get better over the next year.
