A1 Hoops Report hosted the She Got Next MLK Showcase. It was the second event that the home court of the 5A Patriots hosted with A1 Hoops Report as it also hosted an earlier tournament during the holidays.
A total of 14 teams converged on J.L. Mann for what was an exciting day of basketball from start to finish and we at Prep Girls Hoops were on scene for the festivities. We unveiled our top five performers from the She Got Next MLK Showcase, now it is time to give kudos to Nos. 6-10 on our list.

The 4A Bruins were on the receiving end of a hard-fought 64-60 decision to another 4A power in Greer, but Truesdale’s play kept Lancaster in the game from start to finish. Truesdale tallied 17 points and particularly anchored the Bruins’ long-range attack. She had four of the six 3-pointers Lancaster had drained in that game. She can display her versatility as she can log productive minutes as either a small forward or as a shooting guard. Truesdale also can score baskets near the rim and is not afraid to draw contact and take her opportunities at the free throw line.
Abercrombie did plenty of Abercrombie things when her Generals matched up against 1A Christ Church. She scored 16 points and may have put even more on the board if it were not for Wade Hampton having built such a lead that it enabled the team’s starters to rest for much of the second half. As impressive as her scoring and rebounding is, she arguably can be even difficult to contend with on defense. Abercrombie can follow where the ball is when the opposing team has possession and looks to make things difficult for that opposing ball handler which can make her turnover-prone.
As long as Cunningham continues wearing the gold and purple of the Trojans, there is a bright future ahead for this 4A program. Cunningham tallied 16 points on what was otherwise a rough evening at the office for Northwestern against T.L. Hanna. She will look to create spacing in the interior and expresses confidence in her playmaking abilities with her knack for calling for the ball. In addition to what she can do as a rebounder, Cunningham showcased that she can shoot the ball as if she were a one or a two as a made 3-pointer was part of her performance.
Arguably the most entertaining game of the seven-game slate that took place was between a pair of solid 4A squads in Greer and Lancaster. The Yellow Jackets picked up the win by a final score of 64-60 and Moody spearheaded Greer’s efforts with a 15-point outing. One of Moody’s many strong areas is the ability to draw contact and take her chances at the free throw line. Out of the 15 she tallied, seven came via free throws. The 5-foot-2 guard is also a defensive anchor as well as her ability to collect steals can give her team additional possessions.
The 2022-23 rendition of T.L. Hanna girls basketball has been an improvement over the 2021-22 version. This year’s team has already reached double digits for victories and Clinkscales has been a big reason for that success. Clinkscales finished with 15 points in what was a commanding victory for the Yellow Jackets over 4A Northwestern. Clinkscales is listed at 5-foot-7. She can be particularly dangerous from behind the 3-point line and is also a proficient passer. In addition, she will collect many a rebound as well as many a steal. Clinkscales is in her second season at the varsity level as she did so last season as well as an eighth grader.
