Watching [player_tooltip player_id='484802' first='Mikaylah' last='Williams'] was a definite sign of yesteryear showing a player from an Independent could create not only buzz but have countless offers on the table. No debate is needed about her being the #1 prospect in the class of 2023 before she does some damage for LSU yet sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='484971' first='Arionna' last='Patterson'] put in work was equally impressive as I listened to numerous college coaches amazed with her only being a sophomore. These two Louisiana players made my Sandra Meadows Classic Opening Day Top Performers article yet here are some other standouts from Louisiana and Tennessee I caught at Sandra Meadows Classic

Tennesee

Fayette-Ware

[player_tooltip player_id='490590' first='Sydnei' last='Marshall']

Marshall's quick hands immediately grabbed my attention and seeing her come away with steals using them was a treat. Her acrobatic finishes were very nice, as well as her pull-up jumper. On top of that, she did a good job rebounding

Tyneequa Gilchrease

Gilchrease showed she could not only handle the ball under pressure but throw dazzling passes on the money in traffic. Her no-look was one of the best on the day yet her court vision both in the set and the open court was nice, and so was her attacking the basket

Bartlett

[player_tooltip player_id='496318' first='Mallory' last='Collier']-6'5 C [2023]

Collier used her body as well as her size nicely inside the paint, showing mobility coupled with good hands to finish, including after the lick. She rebounded on both ends of the court and ran the floor on both ends

Zoe Rixter-6'0 F [2025]

Rixter is "long and athletic" and I call that the base. I use that over and over because it's important, especially since she has a nice first step to attack the basket and uses her length and athleticism to elevate over defenders

[player_tooltip player_id='245320' first='Raven' last='Sims']-5'8 G [2023]

Sims is also "long and athletic" and I wrote UPS which means more than she explodes off the ground to get her shot off. She has good timing to rebound over taller players yet her finishes off the dribble showing nice body control were impressive

Louisiana

Walker

[player_tooltip player_id='484850' first='Caitlin' last='travis']-5'7 G [2023]

Travis showed the midrange over and over and this included in transition when dropped the "stop and pop". She's athletic, strong first step enables her to get by defenders and finish yet she also did a good job defensively

[player_tooltip player_id='484930' first='Kennedi' last='Ard']-5'10 G [2024]

Ard created her shot smoothly and consistently, under pressure, and using her athleticism she got it off whenever she wanted. Her mid to long-range was nice, she dropped it from very DEEP, but she also showed the pull-up in transition as well as the "catch and shoot"

[player_tooltip player_id='486165' first='Aneace' last='Scott']-5'10 F [2023]

Scott not only played solid defense but she read the court nicely and came away with steals from playing the passing lane. She also attacked the basket and finished after contact

Parkway

[player_tooltip player_id='484851' first='Ty'lissa' last='Henderson']-5'11 G/F [2023]

Henderson is yet another "long and athletic" player that did some damage on both ends. She dropped a turnaround jumper a few times, with a hand in her face that had me smiling but she also has a nice first step to get to the basket and finish

Amoree Williams-6'3 C [2023]

Williams unutilized all 75 inches as she rebounded strongly on both ends yet she also showed the "hands and footwork" 1/2 combination I love to see which enabled her to finish. She defended inside the paint and ran the floor

[player_tooltip player_id='484922' first='Chloe' last='Larry']-5'6 PG [2024]

Larry scored off the dribble multiple ways yet her using either hand to attack was a plus, so was her finishing after contact. She has a nice pull-up jumper, she played good defense and she also played the passing lane

[player_tooltip player_id='245324' first='Makenna' last='Miles']-5'5 G [2023]

Miles went the distance showing she could not only create her shot but knock it down from the midrange as well as score off the dribble. She also saw the floor well

Captain Shreve

Jakyiah Lane [2024]

Lane impressed me with her never quit mindset, no matter what the score was and that's always a good sign. An even better one was she scored both off the dribble and from outside, 3 ball included
