Fouquet is long and athletic. One of the most versatile players in the area. A PROBLEM on the inside and from deep. Her ability to shoot from anywhere on the floor makes her nearly impossible to guard. She is able to create her own shots. For most of her high school career she has been double-teamed, and on Thursday she showed that it does not affect her game at all. She finished with a game-high of 23 points in Claude’s win over Kress.
Fouquet, along with a great supporting cast, will face McLean in the Regional Quarterfinals with a fourth straight trip to the Regional Tournament on the line.
Here are some more 1A-3A standouts from the Area round:
Nazareth
Presley Wheeler- 5’5 G [2023]
Wheeler is a steady guard who can just flat-out shoot. In Nazareth’s win over Silverton, she made three 3-pointers in the first half. She finished with 11 points. She has a high motor on both ends of the floor. Her high basketball IQ helps her facilitate as well. She is not afraid of big moments which will help Nazareth as they move on to bigger games. Definitely an advantage to have her on the floor.
Brooklyn Birkenfeld– 6’0 F [2025]
Birkenfield is an up-and-coming player who is seeing big minutes for Nazareth this year. Her poise and confidence have boosted Nazareth to have a great season thus far. Her frame makes her a nice presence in the paint, but she is also comfortable with the ball in her hands on the perimeter. She is a natural scorer who adds a nice scoring punch to the already fantastic offense of the Swiftettes. She finished with 11 points on Friday in their win against Silverton.
Sudan
Stevi Lockhart- 5’11 G [2023]
Lockhart has developed into a floor general. Being a coach’s kid, she sees things that other players do not. Her ability to not only make the tough shot but to make the tough pass has made her one of the most versatile players in class 2A. Her quick mid-range pull-up makes her hard to guard. In Sudan’s heartbreaking loss to Stratford in overtime, Lockhart had a game-high of 22 points. She will no doubt make noise at the next level.
Childress
Cameran Daniel- 5’7 G [2023]
Daniel is a smooth shooter who has the ability to go on a run of her own. If she knocks down one she is liable to knock down 3 more in the next minute. Her shot is effortless. Her quickness on the defensive end has helped her team win big games and will continue to be a problem for opponents. She had a game-high of 18 points in Childress’ win against Littlefield.
