#2 Ayla McDowell Ayla McDowell 6'2" | SF Cy Springs | 2025 State TX -6’2 SG/SF (Cy Springs)
Up from #10
McDowell brings so much to the table to go along with her being “long and athletic”. She elevates on her jumper, and when you factor in her wingspan, she gets it off whenever she wants yet more importantly, she drops it, mid to long-range. That elevation also comes in handy as she has excellent timing to block shots, as well as rebound on both ends. She also defends on the ball and inside the paint
#3 Nmesoma Okala-6’1 C/PF (Glen)
Up from #9
Okala falls into “there aren’t a lot of hers” walking around, contrary to rumor. She is also long and athletic but is becoming a nightmare to defend around the basket because she’s added the “hands and footwork” and just leaps over defenders. She also attacks off the dribble, her first step coupled with her stride is head to handle. Nice timing on defense, rebounds strongly on both ends
#7 Taylor Barnes Taylor Barnes 6'1" | SF South Grand Prairie | 2025 State TX – 5’10 SF (South Grand Prairie)
Up from #12
Barnes is Bad News if you’re trying to guard her. She too is long and athletic but watching her elevate her game even more at the Spring Creek Mansfield Invitational was special. She scores however she wants, the mid to long range is solid, she sets the defender up with a deceptive first step to attack the basket and she finishes strongly with either hand. Good defender and rebounds on both ends
#10 Hillary Dawson Hillary Dawson 6'3" | PF Malakoff | 2025 State TX – 6’3 C/PF ( Malakoff)
Up from #27
Dawson is so powerful around the basket and watching her score with players literally hanging on her speaks volumes about her strength. She does a good job scoring around the basket while facing it, plus she rebounds on both ends and does a good job defending inside the paint. Her upside is pretty scary when you factor in what she already brings to the table
#11 Jasmine Gipson Jasmine Gipson 6'0" | SF Duncanville | 2025 State TX -6’0 SF/SG (Duncanville)
Up from #24
Gipson plays whatever role she needs to and whether it’s starting and being a facilitator to coming off the bench and bringing “instant offense”. Her poise under pressure is what initially attracted me to her game back in middle school yet her being long and athletic, slicing by defenders for baskets told me a lot about what was coming. She creates her shot, under pressure and drops the midrange with a hand in her face. She also can knock it down from deep, solid rebounder, and defender
#21 Milania Jordan Milania Jordan 5'10" | CG Southlake Carroll | 2025 State TX -5’10 CG (Southlake Carroll)
Up from #41
Jordan was missed by me over the club season, I mentioned that in the Southwest Showcase article so again, place yourself where I am. She has always understood how to set the defender up, the first step can leave whoever is holding her cemented to the court and her body control makes her an “and one” waiting to happen. She can score, mid to long-range, she handles the ball under pressure and sees the floor, not to leave out her on the ball defense
