On Friday, February 24th I watched both Final-4 games for 2A and watched the first 3A game at the Arizona Veteran's Memorial Coliseum in Phx, AZ.

The setting was something you want to experience at least once with San Carlos Tribe attending with many many chants and sheer joy and excitement for their team.

Results

2A #1 Phoenix Country Day 60 #5 Sedona Red Rock 45

Here were some of the Junior Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='605055' first='Rachel' last='Roderick'] Sedona Red Rock (Pictured)

A tall post player with skill and fluidity. She can score on pull-ups off the dribble, drop step hook shots and offensive rebound put backs. She gets doubled every touch and still finds ways to score. She has the runner and can create her own shot. She runs the floor rebounds and will block shots. She looks to be higher ranked in the junior class once they come out next month.

[player_tooltip player_id='582422' first='Kimi' last='Cahoon'] Phoenix Country Day

A quick and leaner pure point guard who can shoot and handles heavy ball pressure well. She takes a lot of stress off of her other guards and is almost a safety net to give her the ball to make a play. She can hit the three off the catch with good ball rotation and makes smart decisions on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='605082' first='Lea' last='Llamas'] Pima

A scoring guard is one of their two sharp shooters of the team. She has good open court speed and is smart to anticipate passes to collect steals. She can shoot the three off the catch or pull and seems to always play with energy and a smile the whole game.

[player_tooltip player_id='605083' first='Ella' last='Wiltbank'] Pima

Another sharp shooting junior guard for the Roughriders is Wiltbank. She can pull-up off the dribble but is probably best as a standstill three point shooter. Her shooting gave them the needed separation versus a good San Carlos team. She is also aggressive to steal the ball on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='605090' first='Aubrey' last='Wilson'] Show Low

A skilled guard is a very good passer with nice court vision. She plays the passing lanes well to steal the ball and is good in transition to score layups and doesn't mind the contact. She moves without the ball and has pretty ball rotation on her shot.

MiKenzie Kulish PG 5'3 Show Low

An undersized pure point guard who took a lot of pressure off the team since Chinle presses and traps a lot. She can shoot it from the three point line off the catch and makes smart decisions with the ball. She made a huge steal down the stretch to win it.
