Laney Pilcher
The Jesup senior has been one of the most influential players in 2A this season. Pilcher is the second-leading scorer in 2A with 24.9 points per game. The senior also adds 9.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 4.7 steals. Pilcher’s rebounding is the most significant aspect of her game for herself and her team. When she rebounds the ball, she explodes and creates transition opportunities whenever she gets the ball. She’s fast and loves to use her speed to push the ball up and down the floor.
Morgan Miller Morgan Miller 5'9" | PG Iowa City Regina | 2025 State IA
The Regina Catholic guard has done a little of everything for the Regals. The sophomore is averaging 17.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists this season. She’s an intelligent player who uses her basketball IQ to make the right plays every time down the floor. Miller makes the right passes, boxes out, plays solid on the defensive end, and takes the right shots within the flow of the offense. The sophomore can also knock down perimeter jumpers in bunches if she gets the space to shoot the ball.
Payton Petersen Payton Petersen 5'10" | C Dike-New Hartford | 2024 State IA
The Dike-New Hartford Wolverine is averaging a double-double this season. From what she has on film, she is one of the better rebounders in 2A. When an opponent shoots the ball, Petersen finds the nearest opponent to box out, and she gets to her spot quickly. I love how well she gets inside position on both ends of the floor and how Petersen chases rebounds outside her area. Petersen’s ability to create extra possessions and end opposing possessions with one shot is partially why the Wolverines have been as good as they’ve been.
Madison Brouwer Madison Brouwer 6'0" | PF Sibley-Ocheyedan | 2023 State IA
The senior is an excellent forward and is averaging a double-double this season. I love the Generals’ ability to play up-tempo with how quickly she fires outlet passes up the floor. Brouwer’s ability to score on the offensive end consistently is crucial for the Generals. She’s a quick forward who can beat her initial defender and score over her left shoulder. The Generals trust her to make plays and have rewarded that trust all season.
