Elyse Macdonough, 5’8 G – Rice Memorial High School Class of 2024
Last year’s GPOY missed 4-5 weeks this season with injury, however, it’s undisputable that she’s one of the most impactful players in the state when on the floor. Upon coming back from injury I thought she’d be slow to bounce back, but that wasn’t the case. The highly skilled combo-guard stepped right into 20-point performances and big time wins as Rice battled to secure a home playoff game. MacDonough’s three-level scoring, facilitation, defensive canny, and leadership could push Rice deep into the postseason.
Sabine Brueck Sabine Brueck 5'8" | CG North Country Union | 2025 State New E , 5’7 G – North Country Union High School Class of 2025
Sabine was good last year as a freshman, but the jump she made this year has been incredible. She’s a defensive mastermind with her anticipation, and her ability to bother shots, passes, and ballhandlers puts opponents in a tizzy. Moreover, she turns so much of that defense directly into offense. Brueck has an extra gear she taps into in the open court and she’s a premier finisher at the rim. Additionally, she’s effective with or without the ball, has locked in the deep ball, and sees the floor clearly. Sabine and co. are 20-0 and, quite clearly, are D2 favorites.
Kelli Cieplicki, 5’9 G – Rice Memorial High School Class of 2024
Rice has been hampered by injuries all year, yet Kelli has remained healthy and resilient. Amid two all-state guards going down, Cieplicki has shown impressive versatility and dependability. The swiss army-knife has taken on a do-it-all role, becoming a PG as she continues to provide mass amounts of rebounds and ground this team defensively. Her three-level scoring has flourished, showing a ton of skill off the bounce, and her facilitation has been keyed in. Cieplicki and the Green Knights look to make a playoff run as the 8 seed.
Bianca Williams Bianca Williams 5'10" | SG Essex | 2024 State New E , 5’11 G/W – Essex High School Class of 2024
I said it earlier in the year and I’ll say it again, Bianca is one of the strongest two-way players in the state. Williams has been electric in EHS’ pressure defense, taking on the other team’s best guard more often than not. Moreover, she’s likely the team’s top rebounder and scorer. Bianca has dropped a couple of 15-15 games, all hyper efficient, in the flow of the game, and fundamentally sound. Bianca can score at all three-levels yet she’s adamant about getting to the rim for easy two’s, plus she makes plays for others. Bianca and EHS look to make a splash in the postseason.
Addison Hunter Addison Hunter 6'0" | PF Champlain Valley | 2023 State New E , 6’0 F – Champlain Valley Union High School Class of 2023
The best forward in the state, Addi Hunter. There aren’t many around who are as smooth, controlled, and smart as Addi. She’s a legit three-level scorer and her post arsenal is insane. Hunter can face-up from 15-feet and hit jumpers, she can back down and finish with hooks and counters, or she’ll step it all the way out and drill threes. Yet it’s all in the flow of the offense, and if the D collapses she’s finding the right pass. Moreover, she defends inside and out, cleans glass, her outlet pass is immediate, and she can push herself. Hunter and CVU head into the playoffs 17-1, they’re only loss coming out of state.
