There are kids in every class who’ve shown out, and I’ll stay away from some of the more obvious choices in graduating class, but I would like to highlight one kid in each class who has been excellent.
2026: Melia Lemorande Melia Lemorande 6'0" | SF Bay Port | 2026 State WI
The Bay Port freshman has all the talent in the world and will be one of the best 26s in the Green Bay area before too long if she isn’t already. The 6-foot wing has the length to make plays nobody else can on either end of the floor. This season there are some upperclassmen with the trust of the coaching staff to make plays, but as time goes by, we’re going to see her get better and better in high school and thrive over the summer, where her athleticism will shine.
2025: Abby Hollis Abby Hollis 5'7" | CG Albany | 2025 State WI
I’ve been saying it for almost a year, but Hollis is an elite shooter, and that proved to be true this season at Albany. Her shooting has helped the Comets be one of the best teams in D5. Her ability to score from the perimeter off the dribble is a handful for any team in D5, and it also makes the Comets a favorite to get to the Resch Center.
2024: Sophie Hafeman Sophie Hafeman 6'0" | PF De Pere | 2024 WI
The forward from De Pere has been one of the few kids back from the team who went to state last year. Hafeman has stepped into a prominent role throughout the season and thrived. She’s a physical kid who does most of her damage in the paint, and she’s been dominant down there over the past few months. After a season that began with uncertainty, the Red Birds finished the 2022-23 season in second place in the FRCC while having zero minutes played from any starter from last season. That’s unbelievable, and most of that is down to how good Hafeman has been.
2023: Annyka Hellendrung Annyka Hellendrung 5'8" | SG Waukesha West | 2023 State WI
After seeing Hellendrung over the summer, her season hasn’t been surprising, but if you’re not following AAU ball, you may not have known how good she was. She is an elite 3&D wing who can stretch the floor well beyond the 3-point line and takes defensive matchups personally. Even though she didn’t play a significant role last year, like she is this year, her competitive nature has meant she’s always been ready for this stage. Keep an eye on her and her Waukesha West team in the postseason.
