Starting with Colfax and Okanagan who have been ranked #1 and 2 all season long in Class 2B. It just so happens that those two teams will both end up in what is the most confusing District tournament I have ever seen.
District 6 and 7 will combine with both playing in their own district first to decide seeding for the cross-over games to state. There will be six teams from the district 7 tournament that advance to the cross- over and all four teams from the District 6 tournament advance to the cross-over. They will then face off in loser out games with the winners advancing to the state tournament. Okanagan – District 6 and Colfax – District 7 will be the heavy favorites. In total there will be five teams advancing to the state tournament when it is all said and done from the two districts combined. Here are some teams and players to watch.
District 6 (cross-over with 7)
COLFAX (20-0)
Last year’s runner-up at the state tournament. This is a deep team that also happens to have the best player in Class 2B and one of the best in the state in Brynn McGaughy Brynn McGaughy 6'2" | SF Colfax | 2025 State WA . She is a versatile 6’2 that can play inside and out. She does a lot of damage in the paint. She is simply bigger and more talented than any other player in 2B. She has great footwork and a soft touch inside, can run the floor and is an excellent rebounder. The talent doesn’t stop there. Nor does the size. Ava Swanson is a 6’0 post and Hailey Demler Hailey Demler 5'11" | SF Colfax Highschool | 2024 WA – 5’11 wing. Demler and point guard Jaisha Gibb are both dangerous from long distance. This is a talented and deep team that should be the favorite heading into the post-season. They will face the winner of Chewelah vs Reardan in a quarterfinal match-up.
District 7 (cross-over with 6)
OKANAGAN (19-1)
The one seed in district 7, they will face the winner of tonight’s game between Tonasket and Bridgeport. Another deep team with not as much size as Colfax. They are led by 5’8 Jr. G/F Alex Goetz Alex Goetz 5'8" | SG Okanogan | 2024 WA and 5’9 Fr. Guard Jacey Boesel Jacey Boesel 5'8" | PG Okanagan | 2026 State WA . You will find a host of players this size on the roster. They are solid across the board and love to play pressure defense and get up and down the floor.
District 1
LACONNER (15-4)
This is a battle tested team who has played and beaten a lot of bigger schools including 4A schools Skyview, Skyline, Kamiak and Jackson along with a few 2A schools. They have one of the best combos in 2B with 6’0 Sr. forward Ellie Marble Ellie Marble 6'0" | PF LaConner | 2023 State WA (23PPG) and 5’10 Sr. guard Josie Harper Josie Harper 5'10" | CG LaConner | 2023 State WA (19PPG).
District 4
NAPAVINE (18-2)
The central 2B #1 seed. They have a first round bye and face the winner of Wahkiakum and Chief Leschi in the quarterfinals. Another deep team with some good shooters on the perimeter. Led by 5’8 Sr. guard Morgan Hamilton Morgan Hamilton 5'6" | SG Napavine | 2023 WA . She is an athletic player who does a little bit of everything and leads the team in scoring. They have turned it up defensively, allowing only two teams to score over 50 points all season. Their two losses came to 1B Mossyrock and 1A Montesano. They are currently winners of 18 straight games dating back to the third game of the season.
